Thanks for the warm reception! Tull fans are the best! - My story...... Many thanks for sharing geostrahle - I enjoyed reading that! Tull fans are the best and it's great to link up and know that people are doing all sorts of things around the world yet share a love of Ian's music and showing it either by being inspired to play or just turn to it at different times in their day and lives. Keep playing and sharing!

Hello geostrehl It's a pleasure to hear your videos and a Big Welcome to the Forum. You are very talented, dedicated and enthusiastic. Are you doing this full time? Reason I ask is my son who's a little bit younger than you eats, breathes and sleeps music and is heading off to London to study music and sound production. Tell us more about how you first heard Tull and what your favourite songs/lyrics/concerts are? Cheers nonrabbit

Kind of connected to HE and also a mention of IA blog.timesunion.com/hoffmanfiles/your-dna-knows-who-you-are/13478/Your DNA knows who you areBy Rob Hoffman on August 22, 2016 at 6:34 AM This model was made by using a sample of the oldest DNA (37,000 years old) found in Europe. It allows us to understand what the first Europeans looked like. Apparently they look like modern Europeans. In fact, this looks like a picture of Jesus that has been enhanced in order to determine what he would have looked like had he lived long enough to reach middle age. Or, it could be Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull? So many mysteries. What did the men look like?

Just been reading about Prince and sad if it's true about incorrect labelling on meds found at his home however I was also reading that he did not believe in the concept of Time.
" In an interview with Dutch television in 1999, he said he had begun exploring that idea when he recorded his apocalyptic song 1999 in 1984. His views almost meant he did not believe in birthdays. "I don't celebrate birthdays" he said. "It stops me from counting days, which stops me from counting time, which allows me to still look the same as I did 10 years ago."
I reckon there's something in that and not just because my next birthday has a zero at the end. Maybe psychologically we "measure" Time far more than we should and that's even before we get on to the theory that Time does not exist but that's too complicated for this thread.
Maybe Ian could get all Pink Floyd like and his next album could be about Time, Astrophysics and ...Heavenly Bodies.

If I may indulge... This is from my days in the early 70's married to a musician - the singer in the band It's a recording from a rehearsal made with a primitive mono cassette player stuck in front of the bassist - John so it's fair to say it hasn't the sound of a Steven Wilson rejiggerry although it would certainly sparkle if it did! I haven't heard this song for decades and I'm pleasantly surprised by it. tick...tock...tick ...tock Love it Did any of them find fame nonrabbit, they should've Thanks, enjoyed the song Sorry just seen this. Charisma records were interested around the time of the video but something happened which I honestly can't remember - must find out. Two of them went touring with another band to South Africa and they're still there - made a life and still playing. One got married and had responsibilities and bills to pay although the long suffering wife of one of them touted a cassette tape around all the A&R places in London -you could still do that then - walk in off the street and see someone in A&R and was told his songs would be more suitable to the American market (then) however someone didn't want that................ leave you guessing Thanks for asking.

No to both of the above Would I make it that easy? Clue - Locomotive Breath Ah !! It's a group member connection then. A former BCR member went onto record the song with a subsequent group ? The answer is Duncan Faure. Duncan was in the South African band Rabbitt - a very popular band in the 80's (in SA) who brought out a cover version of Loco as featured here. Always a laugh to read the comments underneath like " Damn that band JT copying this song" and such gems ( despite the fact it has "cover" on the top) Duncan then came over to Scotland and joined The Rollers as a vocalist. and even if you couldn't bring yourself to watch either of the two videos you must watch a bit of this one - it's got crashing waves and an eagle in flight. There might have been a secret show where Tull appeared with the Rollers - I'd like to see it.

Where would you find a dead pheasant? not a dead peasant.. that would be in Tull woods... shot for trespassing. Whoops didn't answer this one - sorry. i65.images obliterated by tinypic/8x4kgj.jpg[/IMG] Pheasant to his right. Interesting little snippet or article on Ian's love of pheasants and other Woodland animals - intriguing because it's about a whole lot more than that. It's by journalist Norman Schrieber for Soundwave, 1976 and it's via Collecting Tull however I didn't copy it from CT - someone else did. i66.images obliterated by tinypic/118iq2e.jpg[/IMG] www.collecting-tull.com/Articles/article_Soundwave_76.htmwww.collecting-tull.com/Further little snippet - Ian would have shared the Green Room that night with Bob Hope and Anthony Newley. Question - Why is the medical symbol in the background for the Mike Douglas Show?

After trawling the net for almost ten years now - considerably less than other Tull seekers of info, there are some questions that remain unanswered.
It would be nice to think that someone sometime might come up with the answers.
1. The bit part actors name and where I've seen him before who is handing the award to Gerald on the cover of TAAB.
2. The meaning of Sossity - if there is a meaning or did the letters just fit the line and sound nice?
There's loads more but I cant think at the mo - post yours or even better post the answers.

Rock legend helps to reach cash target to save woodsThis one's a couple of years old but certainly still worth a mention. " ROCK’n’roll flautist Ian Anderson’s gig on Saturday helped Wroughton reach their £30,000 target for the Kings Farm Wood Appeal. The lead singer of the British band graced the stage of the Wroughton Club in the village’s final push to save the woodland from development in a sell-out performance." www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/news/11083070.display/

I'm not overly linking them - a bit much? The only one I would probably go for ( or if someone wants to buy it for me) is the Benefit one. There's a new theory - something can work brilliantly as an album cover but not as a t-shirt - B&TB.

Don't know but worth mentioning again one of Ian's comments on Bowie's death. "Somehow, although we didn't know each other, I managed to get his phone number and he agreed to come to the session. In prompt and professional fashion he executed the desired solo lines and went on his way with the recorded words, 'I'll see you later.' "Many years later in 1997, I managed to push my way past minder heavies into his dressing room at a big German TV show we were both appearing on. I thanked him for playing on the Steeleye song and, more importantly, for serving as a role model to me in regard to offering the gift of music with no fee or royalty for performing on other artists' records, something I have always done since." www.nickiswift.com/7381/musicians-reactions-david-bowies-death/?utm_campaign=clip

Right now I am reading a book about David Bowie. I'm a huge Bowie fan, but didn't know that he took that much cocaine in the 70'ties... The book is written by Tobias Rüther and is called Helden, or heroes if you may... What a remarkable man... I really miss him... Ian Anderson once said that England was masters when it comes to exporting culture... (something like that) and how right he is! I can't thank you enough! Don't get me started... The list is endless when it comes to great and influential people from that area... David Bowie was inspired by a lot of different people, some of them was evil to the core, but it seems to me that he was able to use some of that, to transform it in a way, that brought about a lot of good... A little lost along the way? Probably yes, but aren't we all once in a while? If you talk to the devil, don't be surprised that he will convince you once in a while... (especially if you're constantly using cocaine... ) I wonder if David Bowie ever listened to Jethro Tull? jethrotull.com/david-bowie-1947-2016/Very true Equus although to point out a faux pas with Ian's quote - it was the "UK" that were masters in exporting culture to the world and everyone had to flock to England's capital in order to take part. London was a magnet for every teenager in the 60's through to the early 70's. When you got bored with your provincial town, or city that was too far from the capital or a sleepy little village that was shocked at your choice of clothes, music, lifestyle etc you made a bee-line for London. I hitched down in 1973 to discover the concerts, the markets, the pubs, areas to discover and hopefully a more accepting broad minded community. The biggest scandal now is no one can afford to live there anymore and that has a huge negative impact on the place. My "era" was in between those videos

1969 - After three days, the Woodstock Music and Art Fair in New York was due to end, although it did over-run and Jimi Hendrix performed on the morning of the 18th I once read that Ian called Mick Abrahams in regard to going to Woodstock but decided against it when Mick said it was just some hippies in the mud. What a mistake... (On Micks part) Very interesting. I suppose hindsight is a wonderful thing but I don't think it made any difference to Tull's career - them not going to Woodstock. Good thread Mr John.

AQUAMAN Shreds on Guitar in New JUSTICE LEAGUE Image...and now this image of Aquaman playing what is absolutely, definitely Jethro Tull’s “Aqualung.” If nothing else, it makes a perfect complement for Justice League‘s new, metallic logo, which seems like it belongs to a heavy metal that never was. Just a side note for clarification purposes - is this the same guy? i68.images obliterated by tinypic/974luf.jpg[/IMG] i65.images obliterated by tinypic/15cyfb9.jpg[/IMG] Anyone else not sure - post away.
