All one. Yeah, retract 'long may you run'...not only meant for a car..meant for a hearse! One moment that made music historyChance encounter between Young and Stills in Los Angeles traffic changed the course of rock Courtesy Owen Clark: Bandmates Ken Koblun (from left), Young and Bob Clark with Young’s first hearse. rusted-moon.com1953 Pontiac God Bless us I never knew that and what a great picture of Neil. Why did men all look the same in the 1950's and the early to mid 60's?

Our local newspaper has a feature every week in which they stop and ask local "celebrities" some vague and boring questions with the usual vague and boring answers.
For example;
"What do you miss when your away from home?" Ans "My bed"
" What's your worst habit?" Ans "Saying No to people" ( open for piss take!! however they're serious)
"What would like on your headstone?" Nine times out of ten it's Spike Mulligans' "I told you I was ill" funny but getting a bit common now.
So thought it would be fun to speculate.
I'm Behind You
thought it comforting to friends and family yet frightening to strangers especially those who might be standing in the dead of night wondering who the hell nonrabbit was!
Or
the total encompassing of everything in life
Life's A Long Song

I swear I discover a new name or musical genre every day!! Is it that we have to name everything nowadays when once we were quite happy just to say it was an unique style to a particular musician or band? Anyway - rant over may I present Freak Folk ( for those who haven't heard) "Freak folk is a genre of folk music which uses mainly acoustic instrumentation, but introduces elements of avant-garde music and psychedelic folk, often featuring uncommon sounds, lyrical themes, and vocal styles" I kinda know what they mean and see the similarities with the likes Vashti Bunyan, The Decemberists, Nick Drake and Sufjan Stevens to name only a few in this category. I found this out by listening to the beautiful sounds of Vashti Bunyan, Nick Drake and Sufjan Stevens. I do rather like Freak Folk I think this is a beautiful song but the subject matter is very grim and heartbreaking Just as I was posting this up pops yet another genre!! "Shoegazing" a style of rock music characterized by a sound in which the distinctions between separate instruments and vocals are blurred: we’re influenced by an array of different genres ranging from shoegazing to 90s acid house a rich sound that encompasses elements of shoegaze, psychedelia, and krautrock" 1990s: from the supposed tendency of the performers to look down (especially in order to operate guitar effects pedals) rather than at the audience. Hahaha

If I may indulge... This is from my days in the early 70's married to a musician - the singer in the band It's a recording from a rehearsal made with a primitive mono cassette player stuck in front of the bassist - John so it's fair to say it hasn't the sound of a Steven Wilson rejiggerry although it would certainly sparkle if it did! I haven't heard this song for decades and I'm pleasantly surprised by it. tick...tock...tick ...tock

Don't think so as Ian's never been known as a folk revivalist so it's the other Ian Anderson who edits Folk Routes magazine and was also on the Island Records roster for a short time in the late sixties. Damn!! That other Ian gets everywhere! When I found that website of International Times archives - the hippy, groovy newspaper of the 60's that has all the music info as well, I got really excited when I saw the headline "Interview with Ian Anderson.... 1968!! Took me ages to find it on the download edition and guess what?

I think I should stop looking on the internet for Tull stuff as I've now found another ticket from Peterborough that reports to be 1968. Is this 'Our Ian?' Don't think so as Ian's never been known as a folk revivalist so it's the other Ian Anderson who edits Folk Routes magazine and was also on the Island Records roster for a short time in the late sixties. Rule of thumb - when you come across anything from the 60's and the word Folk features a lot it's the other Ian or Iain. i67.images obliterated by tinypic/nvtspg.gif[/IMG] i67.images obliterated by tinypic/nvtspg.gif[/IMG] i67.images obliterated by tinypic/nvtspg.gif[/IMG]

Ian Anderson, singer-guitarist-lyricist-flautist of Jethro Tull, has a problem with God. Who is this mysterious "Old Charlie" mentioned several times throughout the song? I always thought that it was just the use of "Old Charlie" as in a slang name like "Jimmy" for a Glaswegian or the exclamation in times of bother - "Gordon Bennett" All Brit weird habits. But ....as is wont by the Hercule Poirots and Miss Marples fans of lyrics - there could be more! How about this one? There's an episode of Bonanza called Old Charlie " Charlie is well liked by everyone. He's always full of stories and plans for making money. One day a man, with a reward on his head. tries to rob his livery stable and is accidentally killed by his own knife. When the man's family comes to town looking for revenge, Hoss has to try to let everyone know who was actually in that knife fight before Old Charlie gives up his life for the reward...." Think about that as you smoke yer pipe......

This morning I've been doing feck all and listening to the late great Steve Marriott with the background noise of a Norn Irish pipe band parade - quite the combination!

Coincidentally I was chatting to my youngest about music ( age 19) we bond over music - we don't bond over money. Anyway he asked me the ultimate question - What is it I like about Tull so by way of explanation I replied (sorry) that I was always pleased with the unexpected offerings that they produced. So I played him Aqualung, LITP and then LocoB and he couldn't believe Loco was Tull.
I won't say it's the least Tullish song but I remember thinking that it was unTullish back in the day and on first hearing it.

A view from the side of Reykjavik’s iconic Hallgrímskirkja church and what a beautiful building it is. I wonder if John gets the chance to play their organ. It looks very modern. Stunning - like something from another world.

Donald Trump Parody song www.amiright.com/parody/70s/jethrotull57.shtmlEating Szechuan duck Lugging around his enormous luck Hey, Donald Trump Breathing rarified air No one even mentions his awful hair Hey, Donald Trump Bank account's tremendous Making even more from "The Apprentice" Hey, Donald Trump Cash running down his legs Easter bunny brings him Faberge' eggs Hey, Donald Trump Walls shining gold He thinks of buying Sony Spending cash The only thing he knows. Remembering back When he used to eat baloney But now there's caviar Between his toes. Answers the phone Just made another billion Enough to maybe fill in Another vault. Donald Trump my friend You make it look so easy To sell someone the San Andreas fault. Do you still remember When you had to use your looks To get the girls to cling onto you Without your pocketbook. Now you wear your Gucci jammies With satin underwear And the sparrows nest like madness In your hair ...rrrr....

I tried Equus - I really did - but I can't There's was an American woman on TV last night using the words 'disease' and 'immigrants' in the same sentence... and she had back up. We're not immune in mystic, magical Britland either. Brexit will cure all our immigrant problems- we're heading back to olden days - exchanging sheep and fighting cockroaches or the other way round - can't remember. I believe that an opponent is a potential allied if he, or she is treated in a kind, respectful, and benevolent way... Politicians take note.

"Let's Make America Great Again"What the feck does that mean? 1950's - married women in aprons - Twinkies at 5 cents a pack - civil disobedience - Commies under the bed? i66.images obliterated by tinypic/2vv25mo.jpg[/IMG] Here's a women explaining it in a song dedicated to Biff but fortunately I can't make out what she's saying - good tune though. Worth watching to the (bitter) end for the hand gesture.
