Any clues ( I shun facebook). Date? Name? Anything ? Bruce Soord November 17 It's not often I get company in my studio, this one was quite special! The brilliant 23rd Jethro Tull album is out in the spring of 2023 and I had the pleasure of doing the surround mixes as well as an alternative stereo mix. I can't stop humming it...

From Daniele Massimi LINK Waiting for the title ... here are the words of Ian : “We put the finishing touches on the artwork and completed recording and mixing a few weeks ago. Given the usual long waits for print and vinyl production, the release is scheduled for Spring 2023, but over the weeks and months to come, you'll hear some sneak peeks along with more information on what formats it'll be disposable. It's a bit too early to reveal some titles, tracklist and content. I hope you like the concept and the topics discussed. It's been long hard work especially getting the footage recorded during the hectic tour schedule these past months, a day here, a day there, every once in a while two days off in a row... I wrote the main themes and lyrics in January this year and sent the first demos to the band in February and March, just like I did with ‘The Zealot Gene’ in 2017. Most of the recording took place in June and August with the stereo mix done in September. My new friend Bruce Soord of THE PINEAPPLE THIEF curated the surround mix and alternative stereo mix instead. "

I love that artwork! Is this going to be the new album cover? So much better than 'The Zealot Gene' album sleeve!

The TULL DEVIL 2023 I love that artwork! Is this going to be the new album cover? So much better than 'The Zealot Gene' album sleeve! This could be a possible cover and the title is yet to be announced Some people might be offended for religious reasons but ... not me !!!

The artwork is better but not very original. I’m just hoping that we don’t get more biblical or religious matter in the next offering.

I hope the new album is just a nice collection of memorable songs. I don't think I could cope with a 'concept' album about the Devil.

I'm not too concerned about the subject matter, for me, it's all in the execution. After all, you could argue that TPP has a religious theme, and although Lucifer is still an awful fellow, that didn't turn out too badly

This appears to be a German Search Webpage : Jethro Tull - RökFlute Interview 065:23 FSK SUCHERGEBNIS With so many possible names for the new album I would not rely on this one. I'm not too concerned about the subject matter, for me, it's all in the execution. After all, you could argue that TPP has a religious theme, and although Lucifer is still an awful fellow, that didn't turn out too badly I AGREE... People have been burning TULL albums since 1971. Ian Anderson writes some songs which are critical of many things ...

After all, you could argue that TPP has a religious theme, and although Lucifer is still an awful fellow, that didn't turn out too badly Ha…what I’m really hoping for is something different. I know Ian’s vocal limitations come into play but one of the greatest thing about Tull throughout the years was you always got something different. I am hoping Ian surprises us again. I did read somewhere a while back that he wanted to do more of a rock album…so we’ll see. I hope that doesn’t mean that he’ll play less acoustic guitar. A little less flute and more guitar from Ian would be welcome.

But maybe he'll want to do more flute so that he nails being an answer to the Classic Flute Rock category on Jeopardy

Just spotted this (although can't verify the source):
Ginnungagapfb.watch/i7TeHHstdz/Ginnungagap, in Norse and Germanic mythology, is the void in which the world was created. So maybe more myths and legends than religion? Anyway, sounds promising from that snippet!

Anyway, sounds promising from that snippet! OMG !!! Ian Anderson has NO LIMITS It`s always fun to try to figure out what the next Tull album will be like. I must say I`m more excited about this one than anything since Rock Island. I tried to do a search for the English translation on the title with no luck. Because a "red devil" is playing flute on the cover, I searched for the word for devil in Norse Mythology. The word that appeared was Nuckelavee. According to Wikipedia, Nuckelavee is a horse-like demon that combines equine and human elements. It`s breath was thought to wilt crops and sicken livestock and was responsible for droughts and epidemics on land, though it was primarily a sea-dweller. British folklorist Katharine Briggs called it "the nastiest" of all the demons of Scotland`s Northern Isles. So, with the connection to Scotland`s Northern Isles, can we expect a track called "Nuckelavee?? There is a symphonic metal band called Therion. On their album, Secrets of the Runes, the first track is named Ginnungagap. The album deals with Norse Mythology and each song describes one of the nine worlds (whatever that means). As far as the subject matter is concerned, there has always been a struggle between good and evil in movies, TV and music. And some songs are sung from the devil`s prospective (such as The Coils of the Serpent and The Serpent`s Kiss from Virgin Steele). I have no problem as long as it is not "Pro Satan".

nah, way below ian's standards. better write and play some good interesting instrumental music than trying to reinvent same old boring pop rock with lost voice over it. maybe it's just money thing but still.. just my thoughts, sorry for being harsh

On this first hearing I like it I like it. I will give it a few more plays over the week-end. I think the album cover art (if indeed it is the final artwork) is great. Roll on April 21st.
