I am of the minority opinion that everything Yes did before Tales was, at best, good practice and everything after, with the exception of 'Gates of Delirium' which could have been side 5 of Tales, was garbage. A recent reissue of Tales that included raw, un-overproduced versions of side one and three is awe inspiring. Tales From Topographic Oceans is a masterpiece.

One word review of the new Dee Palmer album: BEAUTIFUL
As expected, it is perfectly written, played and sung. Not a single mis-step nor wasted moment. The title cut is a masterpiece, in a class of its own, but each and every song is an adventure and pleasure. Highlights. beyond the expected lyric and music composition, include Dee's voice, her expert touch on the piano, Martin's guitar and the smooth synthesis of classic music influence and Tull rock strength. I love this CD.

I'm sure Aqualung was available as an 8 track. I saw and heard it in countless cars in the 70's.

The biggest leap, I think, was not between albums, it was between everything that came before...a great band with multiple strengths: originality, intelligent lyrics, strong riffs and melodies...and then: MY GOD...the song that revealed what Tull could and would do...a band launched into the sui generis stratosphere from that moment on.

In a different way, the change from APP to War Child was big...not the music, it was very same cloth as proven by Nightcap and the APP theater box...but in that limited moment of time, and after TAAB and APP...it was easy to imagine that Tull was and would continue to be producers of single song album epics...so when Bungle and Back Door Angels leaked out....3-6 minute 'songs' it seemed a huge change.

Front row far right or middle row 3rd from right. Scary that they taught you to all lean forward and grab your knees.

Bizarre...I was at the New Haven concert that also has a ticket in the design. Clearly bootleg stuff.

I looked...not totally wrong. John Fred is not Jerry Lewis's son but Jerry's son, Gary, also had a band called the playboys.

Not 100% sure and too lazy to google before I post, but I think John Fred is an alias for Jerry Lewis's son. Or maybe Jerry's son also performed this song with his own band. I hate the age of google where you can't make things up based on vague memory.

MDF...coincidence or design?...your freeway exit for Crest lyrics is 30 miles southwest of my home in Menlo Park, California, near Stanford University and the heart of Silicon Valley....Silicon Chip Factories indeed.

On one side, there is every wretched accordion song in history, and the bumper sticker " play an accordion, go to jail" ...on the other side there is 'A Change of Horses'. Somewhere there is a live version from some country where Tull saved a few sheckels by not bringing the accordian and couldn't borrow one so O'Hara plays keyboards instead...it's really good, too.

That tiny video really shows how much...how very very very very much, Ian still has as a live performer. Reminds me how happy I am to have tickets to two concerts in June...tempts me to arrange a couple more within striking range.

It doesn't touch the lows Barlow plumbed...promoting the fart knocker artist. Thank God he was also involved with Robert Plant and Echo and the Bunnymen to even out his CV a little. ( I would put Amy Winehouse halfway between Echo and the fart artist).

Wow. The interview with Dee Palmer in current AND is juicy. Can't wait for her new CD and more insights, be they via interviews or book, about Ian and Tull. She is NOT tiptoeing at all...and for that must be admired.

Naturally we wits at Oberlin College in 1975 amended the lyrics to fit our worldview: 'Life's a Full Bong'.

'Inverness Green' sounds like a description from 'Lost in Crowds'. ( Very loose association, sign of early dementia).
