Quit whining.....underpaid quickie album cover art that became iconic stories are dime a dozen ( that's underpaid, too?). I'm sure at the time, most artists were glad to get a handful of ducats to produce an album cover,....the crapshoot of what became iconic vs what was promptly forgotten is no different than every other crapshoot in life...if an artist's work gets spread over the world and the years via a popular album cover...be grateful and use it to hype your career...don't act like you were cheated and should have been pre- or post compensated for unplanned numbers.

I afraid to say that at this late date, only case by case Tull converting is effective. We need to get organized, like the Jehouva's Witnesses and stand around in public places or knock on doors to bring the message of Tull diversity to the ignorant masses who think of them as no more than Aqualung and Bungle in the Jungle and a misguided Grammy. It won't be too bad if we work in teams of two or more and always have ample snacks and Tull music along.

I celebrated one of my private holidays yesterday...I worried SO MUCH about never catching up with the other boy's growth spurts that I am still surprised and grateful, to this day that puberty finally did come to me, after all. Not a random date to celebrate...5'7" is my height...achieved when I was almost 19.

Happy Birthday young man. We are fortunate that you participate in our Tull club. Have a happy, healthy, Tullified year.

My prayers also dispatched. We miss you already. You are the heft and glue of our clubhouse, often reminding us that there is no such thing as a 'slow day' in Tull news. There is always something new, interesting and IMPORTANT to discuss. Archival recordings, daily life scenes and realities that connect us back to Tull lyrics and the full time joy of Tull fanhood. We will stoke the flame while you are restored to health...hopefully a quick, efficient, minimum discomfort process. You KNOW we are with you.

Nice, rustic venue. Not quite the drama and history of Russia...but traveling around Switzerland with the MBB would beat my current life too.

Happy Birthday, John. I know you did not have the easiest year, I hope the coming year brings health, happiness and Tull. Anyone have an abacus big enough to calculate combined moderator ages ? Our average is north of 60 but south of Ian. Probably way north of current band average...Florian really pulls theirs down ( and Scott) ( and John)

They got a lot of places...exotic places I would love to visit...and see Tull. But RUSSIA! That's what hurts me the most to think I will never experience...the glory and drama and intensity of Russia... and Tull.

There's a similar handprint display in front of the Guitar Center on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood. It was considered good luck, by me and my Tull buddy, to take the time to put our paws into the handprints every time we walked by.

I amazed people with my 30 word Russian vocabulary pulled out of the clear blue when I visited Soviet Union in 1985. Words I recognized from nadsat ! Useful words ! ( Friend, big, small, good, bird, etc etc)

Best listening club I was ever in met in the basement of my friend Ron's house, in Denver, intermittent schedule between about 1971-1975. Those were the days and we REALLY listened. I actually remember premieres of 'Close to the Edge' and 'War Child'. When War Child started, I cleverly piped up " Ian learned ANOTHER instrument, the air raid siren".... I was angrily shutted up.

I think Ian's destiny is to go down in history as a unique and talented man, albeit not for the mainstream...of any era...perhaps a sort of eternal light like Goethe...not for everyone...but a lot for the few that he reaches over the decades and centuries.

Sounds to me like Ian had something better in his life than a one night stand. Give him credit for having the wisdom at that age to take care of himself, mentally and physically, shunning drugs and quickies....surely a big part of why we are lining up to see him perform 50 years later.
