I once read that Ian called Mick Abrahams in regard to going to Woodstock but decided against it when Mick said it was just some hippies in the mud. What a mistake... Jethro Tull passed on the event after Ian Anderson was quoted as saying that he “didn’t want to spend [his] weekend in a field of unwashed hippies”. Another theory is the belief that the large festival may have killed their career before it began. Ian has a real problem with hippies. I suppose his opinion would have changed @ The Isle of Wight or other important outdoor gigs. Maybe not... TULL LINK

Good thread Mr John.

In 1960 the birth control pill was launched in America. That's a very surprising advertising coming from that decade... One woman and four men... That could develop into a memorable party... Very funny!

In 1960 the birth control pill was launched in America. Is this a 1960s ad for the birth control pill? No, that ad on the left isn’t real. If the bizarre font didn’t give it away, the straight-up awkward looking doctor should have. On the right we see the original magazine ad featuring Annette Funicello. The ad, as you can clearly see, is for Coppertone sunscreen. Fake image via Twitter >>>Yasmin wasn't approved until 2001<<< 7 Viral Photos That Are Totally Fake

In 1977 The great comic Groucho Marks died. Ha, ha! First he abuses her, and then when she says that she's got a lot of money, he promptly tells her: "Can't you see that I'm trying to tell you that I love you." This is my favorite Groucho line, and I've often used it myself, and absolutely no one that I have uttered these sacred words to have ever understood it... They turn completely blank...

A trip to Pompeii and indeed anywhere in Italy should be on everyone's bucket list.
A ravishing part of the world in every sense.
