Did you all know your postings will be "stickied?" I think it's an unecessary piece of info that they've stuck in. All posts will be "stickied" ie jump to the top of the pile as they're posted. Mind you I'm not saying I've completed my Understanding New Things in Forumland course.

Thanks, Graham That's great to see/read. The USA/Canadian flag joke was right on. Settled the crowd nicely, as they were not too happy seeing Old Glory before the Canadian flag was waved. too much fun.

Found this today, sandwiched between two pieces of paper as I was looking for a family document - as flat and pristine since the day it was cut it out of the music paper, probably Sounds, back in '86.

Priceless memorabilia...Valentine's day 1970....I hadn't found Tull yet. Remember the hours and thought spent on what size valentine from the box to which classmate...? In February of 1970 my musical inspiration came from Davy Jones...'I Wanna Be Free' anyone ?

Just received a Christmas card from my fellow Tull fan and collector Mark Collins. In with it was a small package of newspaper cuttings which I'll eventually post on the Forum. Some may have already been posted here in one form or another but what the heck, here's the first one. More to follow over the next few hays - hopefully The Daily Express, 12 April 2014 (beware there's mention at the end of cod pieces )

I also don't drive and enjoy using public transport. That comes from my mother who still at the age of 87 likes to " watch and observe her fellow humans at bus stations on trains and airports" She's also quite batty and will talk to anyone - unlike Ian however very like me. You have to be careful though you meet all sorts on public transport. i57.images obliterated by tinypic/2zss5ro.jpg[/IMG]

From an Spanish magazine 1970 Pay attention!Bass player: Gleen Barnardel!!! More or less the translation says that the world press sees Jethro Tull as substitute of the Beatles, in England are in second position ahead of the Rolling Stones. In the world is leader of the most select positions. His recent concert in Filmore East (NY) attracted the presence of thousands and thousands of people. Its theme "Reasons for Waiting" raze all rankings.

To avoid cutting the thread "Critics" which it is very interesting I'll post here using google translator to be impartial, and my help to be readable Google translator: "It was presented at the Sports Hall of Juventud de Badalona, full of enthusiastic youngs, the well-known British rock group Jethro Tull, who was commanded by the singer and prominent multi-instrumentalist Ian Anderson. The audience was delighted by the spectacle. Jethro Tull is one more of groups that liven up your presentation with lots of spectacular effects. Each musician appears on stage wrapped in clouds of smoke and flashes, wearing extravagant clothes and waged an exhibition of screams and contortions that cause general rejoicing. Amid the show spoofs, pranks, lighting, balloons etc. so the representation acquires shades of a fairly entertaining puppet show. Under the strictly musical point of view Jethro Tull contributes little as quality nor as originality. Practice this group a hard rock noisy and unrestrained, which makes valid the old saying "much ado about nothing". Everything revolves around Ian Anderson, who more than leader of the group, is the universal factotum. Other musicians - Martin Barre guitar, John Evan piano, Jeff Hammond bass, percussion and Barry Barlow - fulfill the task according to the specific requirements of its director, unproven at any time to be in possession of a truly effective instrumental virtuosity. Ian Anderson meanwhile quietly plays several instruments, the flute and stands out, with which has a special technique, which has been called "percussion" and that is supported largely in electronic amplification. Anderson is an artist defined personality, no doubt, and this is the main feature of his artistic profile. The group was reinforced by four ladies dressed to combining properly. It was at the concert some interesting passages - especially when the volume of decibels and Anderson sent a much practiced his neo-folk vein - but tedious abounded spaces, bulky and primary sound, animated only by the visual extravagance. Moreover, this method of coating the music with "gags", costumes and everything else is no breakthrough in the entertainment world; on the contrary it is a resource of very ancient tradition, who have appealed countless orchestras in the past, with more grace than the five members of Jethro Tull, and very oldies to do according to what things. Right here, without going further "Jaime Planas orchestra" and its "Discos Vivientes" and he developed this method with great success back in the thirties. Of course young people who filled the Sports Pavilion of Joventut de Badalona, and had fun with Jethro Tull not know, presumably. But it is a fact and thus it to point out. In short, it may well be said that Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull were far from reaching satisfy. We thought than they are many leagues to the "Mothers of Invention" by Frank Zappa, with whose group often been compared, and right there in Badalona, fully convinced us just two weeks ago. Say finally that in the first half acted as the opening act, a nondescript group called Stackridge. Alberto MALLOFRE. Mr. Mallofre made the most incredible criticism that I read in Spain. As I mentioned in a recent post (jethrotull.proboards.com/post/57806), this was my 1st Tull Concert, I was very young, but I still remember the crazed public with one of the best Jethro Tull in its long history. I did not read this review until few years after, and I could not believe what my eyes read, I looked for references about Mr. Mallofre and as in most cases are a frustrated musician. Now my resentment has decreased, I can understand that they were difficult times in Spain, especially in Catalonia, where the dictatorship was especially repressive and Mr Mallofre certainly received a good check in addition to the appropriate instructions to carry out their critical, and surely also he was saved from a hard kick in the ass. * Aqualung was still banned went on sale in 1975, without the theme "Locomotive Breath" which was replaced by "Glory Row" I feel embarrassed every time I read this "criticism" This is the group Referred by Mr. Mallofre: Jaime Planas y sus discos vivientes (1930) Any similarity with reality is pure coincidence
