Very insightful and accurate review from Uruguay (and Argentine)...the summary: It's still Ian Anderson! Oh how I wish he would bring back Ryan. That was such an elegant, magical solution to the voice problem(s). I couldn't agree more. We all love Ian and that unique sound of Jethro Tull but I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that Ian needs a helping hand with vocals. Ryan is definitely a miss at the moment but I'm sure plans are in place for the 50th anniversary tour and if Ryan isn't available then Paul Forrest would be my choice to take on the vocals.

Went last night to the Arenba Maipu gig. Same setlist as in the last shows. Musically, the band sounds fine, but oh poor Ian´s voice cannot afford any more singing. Still, I don´t know I will be watch IA perform live again anytime soon, so I went mostly for the nostalgia thing... I'd rather hear Ian croak out songs that are out of his range than hear anyone else sing along. Ryan was ok... I'd be ok with him making limited appearances from here on out. David Goodier chiming in occasionally is fine. Unnar on Heavy Horses and Witch's Promise is nice, Paul Forrest isn't. It's fine for a tribute act, but his overblown facial expressions make a mockery of Ian's past. The voice sounds like he's trying too hard... not like Ian does now, but in more of a corny way. Ian, keep going at it alone, but choose some different songs to sing! The diehards would love to hear "Out of the Noise," "Roots to Branches," and "Inside." These are songs you could sing just fine! So the "Aqualung" crowd won't be pleased. So what? It's us die-hards that are keeping your pockets stuffed nowadays, anyways. Ok, I'm done ranting.

www.montevideo.com.uy/contenido/El-concierto-de-Ian-Anderson-y-su-Best-of-Jethro-Tull-en-imagenes-664690#Fotos: Ari Dunski THE MAGIC FLUTEThe concert of Ian Anderson and his Best of Jethro Tull in picturesIan Anderson reviewed the best of Jethro Tull at the Summer Theater with his usual instrumental exuberance. 19.10.2017 13:59 On October 17, Ian Anderson performed again in Uruguay, after his memorable visits in 2005 and 2009 (the first in the Summer Theater and the second in the Velodrome). This time he did it for the first time without Jethro Tull, at least as an official name. There was not the historic guitarist Martín Barre, for example, but his show differed little from what it could have been with the first rock group that placed the flute as a central element of their music. Best of Jethro Tull showed Ian Anderson a review of almost 50 years of his musical career, from songs from his first album This was to very recent compositions, such as Thick as a brick 2 , going through several classics of his most popular album , Aqualung . Ian's voice is no longer what it was and gives the impression that he tries to reach the high notes even bodily (he stands on tiptoe every time he should force his throat), but he supplements it well with the aid of recorded choirs of different collaborators (that appear in films in big screen), the attendance of the rest of the band and giving more preponderance to the instrumental sections. And in that field, Anderson is still a wonder. Both on the flute, where Anderson remains as exuberant as ever and making an admirable physical display for his 70 years, as in his small guitar "parlor", the vocalist of Jethro Tull was accompanied compactly by his band, which also has with collaborators of great trajectory in Jethro Tull (like the keyboardist John O'Hara). In this gallery of images, work by Ari Dunski, you can see some of the best moments of a show without fissures. Not even Intendant Danel Martinez missed it. More images "without fissures" HERE

Geostrehl is right...Ian could play quieter, less challenging, deep catalog songs and we true Tullies would shut up and listen. The greatest hit diehards could be politely warned by advertising that live Tull has changed.

IAN ANDERSON passed through the MONTEVIDEO SUMMER THEATER OCTOBER 23, 2017 LINK The train does not stop: Ian Anderson at the Montevideo Summer Theater By Fernando Pastorino The founder and leader of the legendary group Jethro Tull, Ian Anderson, returned to make a presence in our country and gave what everyone expected: a concert with certain vocal lacks and musical excellence for everyone else.
The name of the tour says it all: "The Best of Jethro Tull by Ian Anderson" and that consisted of the concert, with the exception of three songs as a soloist, all the rest was based on the repertoire of the group, mainly the material of the first discs.
Anderson's voice is not the same as in his golden age, although he has been in the same state for nearly two decades and has tailored the themes to his abilities (there are even two songs with recordings of guest musicians projected onto the giant screen to assist you in the most demanding moments of, for example, "Aqualung"). Jethro Tull was never a group whose main attraction was vocal performance and, counting the 50-year career behind him, watching him stand on tiptoes to reach the more complicated notes ends up being somewhat anecdotal.
The show was a bulldozer. He counted on most of the songs that any fan would ask for, with many instrumental passages with the excellence that is already known to the musician and the impeccable band that accompanies him. Between classics and enough English humor on the part of Anderson left this small community (mainly young and veterans, without much intermedio) happy to have seen in live and in good state to one of the members of the history of the rock in times in which each fewer times.
All with the hope of returning to see his troubadour poses in a Uruguayan stage again.
We share with you the photos of Ian Anderson in Uruguay

www.theday.com/article/20171101/ENT10/171109970A&E/Music Thursday, November 2nd, 2017 Jethro Tull living in the presentBy Rick Koster Day staff writer I'm remembering my old college pal Randall Young, who passed away last year. I won't suggest it's an eerie coincidence, but Randall would have enjoyed the fact that the retrospective "Ian Anderson Presents Jethro Tull" show takes place at Foxwoods Saturday on the one-year anniversary of his death. Because Randall was by God devoted to this great band. In fact, back at Baylor, he had SEVEN different Jethro Tull tour shirts, which allowed him to wear a different one each day of the week. And he frequently did so. Those of us still shuffling this mortal coil might observe that Tull singer/songwriter/leader Ian Anderson has lost a great deal of his vocal range, and that iconic Tullsters Martin Barre, Jeffrey Hammond-Hammond, John Evan and Barriemore Barlow long ago ceased to be in the band. But I'll bet Randall would remind us that Tull's rich catalog of LPs, including "Aqualung," "Songs from the Wood," "Living in the Past," "Crest of a Knave" and "Thick as a Brick," will be artfully represented; that the musicianship and presentation will be jaw-dropping; and that Anderson's charismatic presence will further document that he's one of the greatest frontmen of all time. Ian Anderson Presents Jethro Tull, 8 p.m. Saturday, Grand Theater, Foxwoods; $40, $60; 1-800-200-2882.

So, the Walt Disney Theater in Orlando is almost sold out. I'll be attending the Jacksonville Show at Daily's place a semi outdoor venue. It is only about 1/2 sold. Any opinions why that is so. Is Daily's a bad venue? Most of the shows seem to be selling very well. Hate to be at a show with a poor turnout.

muzyka.onet.pl/koncerty/jethro-tull-na-dwoch-koncertach-w-polsce/3qnt9fJethro Tull on two concerts in PolandIan Anderson and his band Jethro Tull will perform at two concerts in Poland. They will take place on December 2 in Krakow and a day later in Bydgoszcz. 29/11/2017 Jethro Tull with Ian Anderson, will come to Poland for two concerts. The first will take place on December 2 in Krakow in the Studio club, while the next day the British will play in the Bydgoszcz Archery Hall. The group was founded in 1967. The flamboyant flutist and vocalist Ian Anderson invariably remains the leader of the ensemble. The group has developed a distinctive, world-wide sound that is based on rhythmic drum, bass, guitars and keyboards. It is combined with the fluttering sound of the flute and the very characteristic, Anderson's broken voice. The lyrics are very poetic, often ironic and provocative. The band has released more than 20 studio, concert and compilation albums. The most recognized are "This Was", "Aqualung", "Thick As A Brick", "Minstrel In The Gallery", "Heavy Horses". For the album "Crest of a Knave" (1987), the band received a Grammy Award, defeating Metallica and their album "... And Justice for All". During the concert in Bydgoszcz, the participants will hear classic songs from the mentioned CDs. New compositions from the premiere album, which will premiere in early February 2018. A great treat for lovers of artistic rock. Concert signed "Music with the quality mark Kuźnia", which has been in existence for several years, only at the concerts of world-renowned artists.
