I was at the little Kinross gig last night. It was just the four piece band on this occasion, all that was required in such a little place, 120 seats. Crowd loved it, intimate little gig, I'm glad I went because I wasn't sure about going to be honest. Very tight band, very well rehearsed, I don't think they put a foot wrong all night, and played from 9pm until 11.30 pm, with a 20min break in between, so we got our money's worth for sure. It's strange in some ways that Martin is playing such small venues, but he seems happy............. For me, some things worked and some didn't, I don't get "Eleanor Rigby" for instance, and some of the Tull stuff has been given a tweak, which doesn't always work. Best songs on the night for me, To Cry You a Song, Teacher, and A New Day Yesterday. Nice one Martin and band. Thank you for you honest review jackinthegreen. It looked like a great venue when I checked it out and I wish I could have been there. I see what you mean about 'Eleanor Rigby'. I'm not sure too.

Cheers Bunkerfan, I forgot to say, I got his new album last night at the gig, and he signed it too......... (I have all his previous albums) His new one "Back to Steel" is IMHO his best yet, some fantastic tracks, and the title track was great live.....

Martin Barre & Band playing Classic Jethro Tull DER SPEICHER THE MEMORY Freitag, 23. Oktober 2015, Einlass: 20 Uhr, Beginn: 21 Uhr MB LINK 1 Friday, October 23 2015 inlet 20 clock, beginning 21 clock MB LINK 2 Martin Barre was 1968-2012 in addition to Ian Anderson, the permanent member and figurehead of Jethro Tull. After Jethro Tull inserts a long break from touring, Martin presented together a new band to bring especially the never belonged in the past few years to rare "classic" songs by Jethro Tull on the stage.
The greatest success of Jethro Tull of phonograms over 60 million sold were undoubtedly the success of albumsAqualung and Thick As A Brick the early 70's.
1988 Martin was awarded the Grammy for his guitar playing on the album "Crest of a Knave". His solos on Aqualung earned him a top 20 rankings in the US and UK. In addition to his successful time with Jethro Tull, he shared the stage with artists such as Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Paul McCartney, Gary Moore, Pink Floyd or Fleetwood Mac.
With his new band, the former musicians of Jethro Tull and includes top musicians of the same musical background, Martin will carry the power of the blues and rock of Jethro Tull's early history into account and, moreover, was much too short in the last 15 years.
Classics such as Thick as a Brick, Locomotive Breath, inter alia, will not be missing in the program.

Jethro Tull guitarist to play TupeloPosted on November 19, 2015 by W. Derek Russell in Entertainment, Lifestyle Lifestyle » Entertainment » Jethro Tull guitarist to play Tupelo Posted on November 19, 2015 by W. Derek Russell in Entertainment, Lifestyle Jethro Tull guitarist Martin Barre has been touring across the globe for nearly 45 years, most recently with The Martin Barre Band which hits Tupelo’s Blue Canoe next Wednesday night. (Courtesy) TUPELO – Martin Barre feels perfectly at home on stage. Why shouldn’t he? The former Jethro Tull guitarist has been touring for nearly 45 years throughout the world. For the past four years, Barre has been touring with his own band – aptly named The Martin Barre Band – and next week, he’s headed for Tupelo. “I’m Mississippi-local,” Barre laughed in an interview with the Daily Journal. “My wife is from Brandon and my son lives in Canton, so I’m familiar with the whole Mississippi-thing. I love it.” The Birmingham, England-born musician has made a career out of his music – joining Jethro Tull before their 1969 album, “Stand Up.” After all these years, Barre said it’s still a whole new world touring in 2015. “It’s my world, now,” he said. “I know America really well and I know travel really well. I’ve learned over the years what to do and what not to do, but essentially, I love playing live. And it’s a really great pleasure to tour, especially in America.” Barre’s third album with his band, “Back to Steel,” is important to him because of his love for the original tunes he’s written. “We started playing mostly old (Jethro) Tull material,” he said, “and when we started doing that I went back to the really early Tull that hasn’t been played in a long time. We sort of reassessed it, rearranged it and made them a bit more blues-y and more rock-y. So we’ve got sort of a framework of classic Tull and then we’ve added to these sets with all this original material. I want to have a band that plays a lot of original material, so it was important to write this album with playing it live in mind. It’s really vital.” Barre said there’s a perception of what to expect from one of his shows after playing with a legendary band for so long. “I think I’m fighting with what people would perceive to be what most people in my position would do, and that would be playing Jethro Tull songs but with no flute player there,” he said. “And that’s exactly the opposite of what I’m doing. This a very fresh, energetic approach to playing Tull music when I do those songs, but it has more to do with the guitar side of it than the flute side. And it’s also a really serious show; it’s not a sort of throw away solo tour with me and a bunch of my mates. It’s not half-hearted at all. It’s a very serious attempt to establish myself all over again. Classic Tull fans won’t be disappointed, I’m very confident of that.” Catch The Martin Barre Band when they perform at the Blue Canoe on Wednesday, Nov. 25. For more information, call (662) 269-2642. • What: The Martin Barre Band • When: 9 p.m., Wed., Nov. 25 • Where: Blue Canoe • Info: (662) 269-2642
