Yes, with vocalist of the week, is playing the night before Ian...I would have thought about it on a different night...I think it's all of Yes Album and Close to the Edge ( Yes !) and 'Going for the One-----Police outtake crap. Friend of mine at work would have considered bricks at the Opera house if he hadn't already said yes to Yes.

Thanks. For a small(ish) country we haven't done too bad. A return thanks to the US of A for Arthur Lee's Love which is my own favourite band from across the pond. I switched on the radio this morning and was listening to BBC6 Music, which is my station of choice at the moment, and they played "Alone Again Or" from "Forever Changes" which is my favourite non Tull album of all time and one that I would take with me to a desert island. 1. Animals New Lizard Species Named After Jim Morrison Jun 7, 2013 08:46 AM ET // by Jennifer Viegas news.discovery.com/animals/new-lizard-species-named-after-jim-morrison-130607.htmJim Morrison of The Doors, who famously slithered around in tight pants on stage, was known as “The Lizard King.” Now scientists have named a newly discovered prehistoric enormous lizard after the late great rock star. The lizard, Barbaturex morrisoni, is described in the latest Proceedings of the Royal Society B. It weighed 60 pounds and grew to six feet in length. About 40 million years ago, it was the “king” of land-dwelling lizards because of its power and imposing size, project leader Jason Head of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and his colleagues believe. PHOTOS: Top 10 New Species Named As for the lizard’s name, Head explained via a press release, “I was listening to The Doors quite a bit during the research. Some of their musical imagery includes reptiles and ancient places, and Jim Morrison was of course ‘The Lizard King,’ so it all kind of came together.” The lizard was a plant-eater, like present-day iguanas. It lived in the jungles of Southeast Asia. When the lizard was alive, the climate in its environment was up to 9 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than it is today. A warmer and moister environment would have encouraged the growth and evolution of subtropical vegetation, which would have provided resources allowing for larger reptiles and mammals. What goes around comes around, unfortunately, so it was probably climate change and cooler temperatures that altered the food supply and led to the eventual extinction of Barbaturex morrisoni. NEWS: New Giant Monitor Lizard Discovered Barbatus, the first part of its name, is from the Latin words for “bearded,” and “king.” The “beard” refers to ridges that existed in a beard-like form along the underside of the reptile’s lower jaw. When Head first examined the fossils for the lizard, he noticed its bones were characteristic of a group of modern lizards that includes bearded dragons, chameleons and plant-eaters such as spiny-tailed lizards. Head said, “I thought, ‘That’s neat. Based on its teeth, it’s a plant-eating lizard from a time period and a place from which we don’t have a lot of information.’ But when I started studying its modern relatives, I realized just how big this lizard was.” “It struck me that we had something here that was quite large, and quite unique.” Photo: An artist’s conception of the giant lizard, Barbaturex morrisoni. So, I've mentioned in the past..a long estranged best Tull buddy, now living in Los Angeles, who stopped speaking to me in 2006 when his dog perished on a freeway, partially due to my impatience and neglect.....after almost 30 years of friendship...nothing...we met in line for Stormwatch tour tickets. Saw him last October at the Chuamash gig...was able to get him a seat upgrade, exchanged pleasantries, a few texts after...and nothing more...no rekindling of friendship. Tonight I texted him 'enjoy the gig, good seats?' knowing he would be seeing tonight's L.A. concert and an hour later he texts back ' dude, you saved my ass...I thought it was tomorrow night' and a second text saying 'good standing spot, left of stage, close'. Questions: 1.) Does saving his Ian gig count as full repayment for deceased dog? 2.) Do I want to rekindle friendship with a 53 year old who addresses a 55 year old as 'dude' in 2013? 3.) Is he suffering from early dementia ? 4.) ?

Yes "get real man" 3. you can't diagnose by text - not yet anyway Obey the dog,the rabbit and probably the drummer - keep talking. Funnily enough I contacted a friend last night that I hadn't spoken to for ages, we were great friends however after a few decades we drifted apart, glad I made contact, life's too short. Here endeth the Sunday sermon, go in peace.

He must have gone alone...he texted about 6 more times to announce 'end of first half of brick, stunning,' 'intermission, place almost but not quite sold out' and, most in the direction of erasing dude/dementia demerits, he texted to remark on the glory of 'Change of Horses'. I texted back polite but detached. Also texted one Tull comment meant for him to Tull hating girlfriend instead and was upbraided for mind wandering away from her. Life shows No Merci.( The Strangler's best song ever).

I know the last cat I had, Max, Max Quad who had such a personality that even without a name tag more people in the condos I lived in for 22 years knew his name than mine, I would hear the children excitedly shouting his name upon his arrival, and made it all the way back to my back door with a broken back after being hit by a car to die in my arms minutes later on the way to the vet, so deep was that personal wound that it is the main player in why I have never taken in another cat since. That and while I perceive even with the smokes I will be around about another 50 years (presuming the planet is still providing life to humans over that period which I do not perceive as a given) at this stage of life, 56, one really doesn't know, and amongst what concerns me is what would happen to the cat if its caretaker passed. But its mostly that kick in the gut for these beings that love you regardless and are such marvelous and willing entertainers. But I believe most of us are born with the quality of forgiveness, certainly for non intentional wounds.

Gentlemen and ladies of the jury:
came home to find car towed due to construction on my block....Tull friend was visiting and i asked him to drive me to tow recovery lot...it was raining and my then infant was in my arms..he had a sports car, small and said ' let's bring the dog'. I saw slobbery squalor, rainy dog and crowded front seat and was already un-nerved so said 'dog will be fine at home' so the dog stayed...a roommate stepped out front door for a smoke, dog bolted, died on nearby freeway. November 2006.
prequel: For years, before incident above, every time i complained to Tull friend of girl trouble, heartbreak, sex and love in rear view mirror, he always said the same thing: ' At least your dog didn't die' I should have known if his dog did die it would be shattering.

In the final analysis, he agreed to leave the dog at your home. As tragic and painful as this was, he made a choice that was practical at the moment. The uncertainly of any decision is always possible. It was an accident. The pain is real. He may blame you more because it hurts even more to blame himself.

Why did he blame anyone - it was an accident. I wouldn't have wanted the dog in a small space anyway with or without infant. The roommate didn't know the dog was going to bolt (did he take it out on the roommate too?) You didn't say leave the dog here so there's more chance of it getting into an accident. What's his problem? Prequel: sorry I love animals but he sounds like he maybe doesn't have enough in life to bother him if he's still bringing something like this up and if that's an example of how he is you might be better off without.

I truly hope you do make another 50 Ray...I'll see what i can do to stick around and we'll up our hanging out ratio from our current, unimpressive, 3 hours/55plus years ! It's a damn shame when people from your planet are so spread out on this planet but at least we ( all of us, not just me and Ray) have this forum to unite us in our own electronic way.

"Thread with no name" is a good Recycle Bin for this random thought: that Tull's riff for Cry You A Song, may be seen as similar to the riff of "Java" by Al Hirt, with minor rearrangement. www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8T_V7xe7vc

Mark I can't prove that - go on make a youtube video and then we'll all get the chance to hear I used to get subliminal messages from Cat Stevens songs eg "We will marry beneath a moonshadow"

I like the challenge of imagining songs backwards in my brains. Du-du-du, du-du-du, du-du-du: the riffed notes of TOO OLD are up-down-up riffed notes and CRY YOU A SONG notes are also up-down-up riffed notes. However, the general arc is opposite in those two songs; CRY starts high and the riffs go lower, TOO TOLD riffs start low and go higher. Played backwards, they'd still be opposite each other. Amateurs should not try that at home without climbing harnesses and a portable fire extinguisher.
This is proof positive that Jethro Tull is the natural choice for those people who grew up on "JAVA" by Al Hirt, a song that is in fact, CRY YOU A SONG and TOO OLD put into a blender on LIQUIFY.

I was watching that programme - about the history of vinyl called When Albums Ruled The World iplayer www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01qhn70/When_Albums_Ruled_the_World/Good programme -Tull appear at about 40.00 Two things struck me well three including the collection of vinyl that Trevor Neilson has They discussed the construction, musically of an album and on one point the sequence of songs and the order in which they feature. The prime example being Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On" a seminal album in lots of respects however the way the tracks are chosen to "melt into one another" is heralded as one of the best. Loved the way someone described the end of one of the songs "as if the music is still being played somewhere" I'm not going to start another Poll as one is still on-going, however I wonder what examples from Tull albums had the best transitions into another track? The other thing that struck me was remembering how you could look at a vinyl album and visually see the length of the song (by the deeper indentions) or how far the album had played.. all without numbers!! Very pretty
