I thought we had a thread for Tull being mentioned in TV or radio anyway I've just got round to watching Breaking Bad and the conversation between one druggy brother and one non druggy brother;
Druggybrother "Hey brother is that a flute? OtherBrother "No actually it's a piccolo" DB " Play some Jethro Tull then"
always a pleasure to hear the band when you least expect it.

Ian McEwen's latest novel, 'Sweetooth' mentions Tull twice...the first time, he sets the scene for a southern university in the late sixties and out of a window comes "Jethro Tull's heaving, rasping flute'...then later in the book the protagonist couple share a memory of the day they met and she heard the aforementioned Tull out a dorm window. He could have picked lot's of bands to mean 1969 on a college campus...but he picked Tull.

One of the best science fiction movies ever made. Considering it was made back in 1968, the effects are can be rather mind blowing.
2001 A Space Odyssey

I agree. 2001 A Space Odyssey gave new meaning to what is the destiny of man. I was always inspired by the music. Such is the case with the Moody Blues who at that point were very progressive. Prog is Cool.

A truly inspirational intro with vision. I became aware when I heard this. You gonna turn around and post it I am gonna turn around and respond to it, as I likely will to the Halloween roll call. Rubbish. Of the first order. Sort of the Dos Eques or Rod McKuen dude of their time. Dime store enlightenment though undoubtebly owing a full debt to LSD. Not a small one and not marijuana I am talking about here. Moody Blues 1967-9. LSD. I ain't asking. Ride my Seesaw. Timothy Leary. And not one that did any favors to psychedelic research with its overtones of look at me I'm a moron with an English accent and a well groomed beard. On a good day maybe even a pearl handled necktie.A perfect example of that which understandably gave rise to punk rock and why for whatever else the world perceives, specifically of Ian Anderson, I HATE the comparisons to the likes of the Moody Blues, absolute masters of shlock rock. Tell them Moodies to get on their milk white steed, with their satin and ruffled attire and ride the f**k outta here. Btw just what was that the Moodies introduced that was so damn groundbreaking that the likes of the Beatles and Procol Harum and likely others if I really did my rock and roll research had not already done. What they did was introduce a new hideously sugar coated version, which, listening to one of their Fillmore East shows of the period, they, shall we say, struggled to reproduce on stage. And you get into non rock and roll aspects I can name Sun Ra as someone who was using the likes of a mellotron before the Moodies. But finally its what are you saying with whatever new contraption you got. Overblown pomposity of psuedo classical arrangements? Then the Moodies are your band. I suggest the real thing. Maybe even allowing half an hour of one's day to whatever the local classical station is.

Just beneath the raw silk sheen That reflects the tints of Autumn from the hills Skye Nat Geo Thank you for making this connection dear Scottish lady and dear friend. I can think of no one else in this Tull net world who would have made that connection...surprised that I do not recall myself to have thought it. From where I sit it says that you get it Patti.

Thanks for the link TT. Never knew the background story to the casting of the film but it's certainly fascinating stuff. I've resisted posting the baked bean sketch
