OK so it's a bit "distant" (probably recorded middle to rear stalls) but a must have as far as I'm concerned due to the bass playing of JHH. Anyone who says he wasn't a good bassist should go a do penance and buy tickets for the spice girls reunion tour.

For all those Forum members who have been inundated with snow (even the yellow sort), a little offering of some artwork I put together for an RoIO back in 2009.

Purports to be from the concert in Jacksonville on October 6, 1970. The Jacksonville show was on July 26th 1970, and the the recording seems to be a pirate copy of the charity concert at Carnegie Hall, New York City, NY - November 4th 1970 on disc 2 of the official '25th Anniversary' box set.

Having checked back through my stash of 1969 bootlegs, I'm fairly certain that the track "Unknown Instrumental" is "Martin's Tune Again" as noted on the Cup Of Wonder Tull site. Can anyone confirm or unconfirm this ?

An all too short acoustic set played out on London's Capital Radio at the end of the Stormwatch tour. Just found this amongst the 500 + archive boots at the kennel and the line up is as follows: Richard Digance - presenter Ian Anderson - vocals, mandolin, flute John Evan - accordion Barrie Barlow - drums Dave Pegg - bass Martin Barre - acoustic guitar Dave Palmer - portative organ Francis Wilson - weather forecast This historic recording is the final one from this line up and unfortunately is in mono. I got this from a German collector at one of the early UK Conventions and although I did record it at the time, the reel to reel tape got mislaid many years ago.

I'm convinced that the reason Ian plays some of the same songs year in and year out is for the old fashioned, utterly obsolete , old school record sales business model that concert goers will remember a song they like and look for the album and by making that step a tiny bit easier by playing title tracks he is gonna sell more albums at this late date. It is not a coincidence that he refuses to switch from Heavy Horses, Songs From the Woods and TOTRARTYTD to different/better songs like Velvet Green, Rover and Big Dipper. C'mon Ian...you can go deep catalog without mixing any one up and losing an album sale.

I didn't know PJV toured with them that year. Did 'Unknown Dreams' , presumably an instrumental, survive and get a new name or was that 'song' a once only phenomena? Never heard of it.

Why is this our best thread? Cuz it provides 6 minutes like this out of the clear blue. Yeah, I recognize a riff here and a bit there.....but this is...for me..today.. NEW TULL.
WOW....the last wonderful gasps of Vetesse era.

It's well worth trying to find a copy of this concert as the bass track is wonderful, showing what a fine bass player David Goodier is. Stand out track is Bouree
