I was there....in Franfurt...translated an interview for Peggy and a very concrete German journalist who was nervous as hell...I think he had a typical un-hip German name but called himself 'Billy' as an English handle. A great show in a big venue...only a few days before 'The Dressing Room' tapes were generated in Zurich.

Thta's why I used to think 'Billies' as Tull slang for fans came from Europeans announcing themselves as 'I am Billy' instead of Adolph or Vladimir or Gunther or whatever...you know, to sound more hippie rock and roll-ish. But, of course, i was wrong as could be....slight wink to 'Billies' on H.E. when 'Bunter bashing' is mentioned ?

William George Bunter (known as Billy Bunter) is a fictional schoolboy created by Charles Hamilton using the pen name Frank Richards. He features in stories set at Greyfriars School, originally published in the boys' weekly story paper The Magnet from 1908 to 1940. Subsequently, Bunter has appeared in novels, on television, in stage plays, and in comic strips. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_BunterInteresting article from a couple of years ago about privately educated scholars having to switch schools and be educated in comprehensive establishments. Rising numbers of pupils taken out of private schools by parents who can longer afford the fees are ending up in tough comprehensives as competition increases for top grammars and academies.
