i've always wondered why the living in the past album was never remastered also coronach and motoreyes never appeared as bonus tracks.

I think because Living In The Past was a collection of out takes from previous albums sessions. Many of these songs were added to the previous albums remasters so to releases them on two albums would have been too much.
I'm not sure about Motereyes but Coronach was commissioned for TV so it was not part of any album sessions and rightly had no place on a remaster.
Personally I would have preferred they remastered Living In The Past. I'm totally against messing with albums years later. An album is an art work. Sticking extra bonus tracks at the end of the original album ruins it for me. I mean, an album's ending is a statement and the last track of an album is as important as the first. How would we feel if great artworks from great painters were reissued years later with an extra mountain in the land scape because the artist originally had the idea but removed it. It's just plain wrong and only about $$$.

I find myself agreeing that an album, even an album side...is a planned statement/work of art..and extra tracks or slipping in mono versions etcetec detract from the original piece of work...I realize new technology has new parameters...and people would feel gypped by a 37 minute CD (how long was War Child?)...don't know what the solution should be but I know i don't like outakes and alternate versions imposed on me when i toss a CD on the machine in hopes of spinning back to the days and years of my youth!

The Broadsword bonus tracks are a must listen for me. My biggest disappointment concerning bonus tracks is that Motoreyes was not included. As I've stated before, I'm happy enough with the MFSL gold discs of Living In The Past. Cheers!

Keep the original then pick up a few loose tracks then make your own running orders. Or not. I went and made my choice "Broadsword and the B's" disk that was sure to ditch Flying Colors. I think I like the Curse better. Well, okay...

Mr Dizzler...all your posts are a pleasure to read...thoughtful, interesting and proof you're a true fans with a good set of Tull-tuned ears....but i was too lazy to sign in and respond until I read...finally...someone who agrees with me that Flying Colours belongs on the $h1t-pile...dunno why...well I kinda do, the 'james Bond soundtrack keyboards'...but I hate that effin' song....now, about 'The Curse'...well, leave it to Ian to give new meaning to 'period piece!'.

Flying Colors seems to somehow have been infected by some other outside musical vocabulary. I can't put my finger on it. Too bad that one didn't get lost like D.J. or Dinosaur--songs from that creative spell. I can't tell if there is some generic classic rock or disco component in what is going on in FC but whatever it is, it sends me running. Ick.

It was $70 Canadian at the time of release in a Tower Records store in Toronto. Cheers! ***Let me add a message to the mob above: Hint, hint...Shout if you will, but that just won't do. I, for one, would rather follow softer options... to keep from flying colours. www.cupofwonder.com/broadswo.htmlShout but you see it still won't do. With my colours on I can be just as bad as you. I love flying colours, eh. The Broadsword album is my favourite 1980's Tull.

If I could cut the track out of my CD, physically speaking, at least now I know there is someone to whom I might donate it!

I agree about messing with albums when I listened to or even read the back of the remastered Broadsword I nearly had kittens when I saw that it didn't end with ... "So fill your glass say Cheerio!"...de dum de dumm dumm (fades away)

As much as B is up in my all time top 5 Tullpickers I'm not fussed on FC either I can't stand the manic chord change thingy in the chorus * but then its apparently about the break down of a relationship so the manic speed change and general pace of the song probably reflects that * stop me if I'm getting too technical

Flying Colours ... I never liked that either, but then I didn't much like Seal Driver either, until I heard it the other day for the first time in ... oooh ... four or five years. Suddenly realised it was alright after all. I should probably actually listen to BATB all the way through, I might decide it's alright after all! Re: non-remastered and now missing tracks - wot about "Blues Instrumental"? That hasn't cropped up anywhere other than the 20y box set has it? Thought it should have been tacked onto the end of Stormwatch meself. gareth x
