Hi friends. There is a question i wanted to subject to your attention. It is also a dangerous one to make to a faithful, old J.T fans as we are .That's why i'm sometimes in hard discord to some others friends from Italian Forum which,in my humble opinion, exaggerates a lot with critics towards the whole our favourite's group directory. The question is:do you think they really are some very ugly, hard to listen in few words rubbish songs or instrumental pieces in this directory? (they used another word to describe...)I counted nearly 40 in the list i read.

Chea, Interesting idea, but I see why you thought this was a dangerous topic amongst the faithful flute fanatics on this board. I can only think of a handful that I would class as not great (Mango anybody?). Anybody got a Tull/IA song that grates?

A bit of a hoary old subject this if I get the gist of what they're on about. Yes Mango is cr2p, but that's my opinion, and there are others who, for example, dislike the Broadsword album which, in all honesty, I can't understand as I rate it highly.
Think we've covered the subject elsewhere on this forum - if anyone can find it can they post the link here? Thanks

Off the top of me head from the early days
Driving Song Son TOTRTYTD Velvet Green And the mouse... One brown mouse - don't think I like any of his animal songs except for Rover which I love intro to Hunting Girl Jump Start
Some of the above are more in the "annoying" category rather than the downright "wish they hadn't bothered" one.

I think it's wrong to slate any tull album completely anyway as a few gems appear on every one (?) I don't think it sounds anymore 80's than say Crest and is a great visual album with the sea, Norse mythology, big overpowering beasties and nifty pirate outfits what more do you want?

Thanks Think this is where we chewed over Broadsword before jethrotull.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=428&page=3Was listening to the album yesterday - I still love it and I got it the first time heard it. Had a quick few thoughts on it. Slow Marching Band is a classic and my favourite song on the album. It has an Irish sound to it and on a personal note made me think of the hopefully ongoing march to a new N Ireland and leaving the troubled past behind. Beastie not a good opening song on an album and could have been done a whole lot better. - if at all Clasp Captures you right from the start - sailing on a Tall ship across the North Sea and the metaphor of Clasp is so clever. Flying Colours beautiful melodic rock Fallen Tulls version of the protest song Broadsword irritating after hundreds of listens - not as "epic" as it could have been. Watching Tulls Bladerunner Sealdriver Tulls bawdy fishermans tale Cheerio - I was walking along the coast road at the end of the day with him ;D love the way the song fades away
