If you can't sing, play an instrument, write your own songs or manage to sell a record south of Dover then you are definitely in line for a Brit for your 'outstanding contribution to music'.... I mean who gives these things out ? Tommy? Robbie Williams' (the housewives favourite) music is about as bland and empty a furniture store in the middle of a recession. I find the whole thing disgusting, i might put my cat up for a Brit, at least he can meow in tune. If ever there was a case for an outstanding contribution to music its surely IA!!!!!!

I am just totally bewildered and dismayed by the music industry and what used to be known as the commercial side which is just about all of it now. Fodder for the "one line catchy chorus" listener.. Remember Benny Hill and Ernie? or Granpa we love you? well it was a novelty then but novelty is now the norm. The media in general is bewildering - witness the good Ol Beeb and Question Time wtf was all that about??? Stop and let me off the roundabout! ;D

Fear not folks, there are fans/promoters out there who think that the X factor 5 minute wonder brigade should be consigned to the great dung pile of popular music.
Check out the "Music Venues" topic in the "Other Stuff", "Entertainment" section.

It's a bit of a worry tho for future generations. Take the TV "meedya" for eg. music in mainstream TV is now completely of the crap music of X Factor etc etc - no late night Whistle Test or In Concert etc as far as I'm aware Jools Holland at New Year is the only TV programme with decent music and thats once a year. Don't get me wrong I'll sit and watch it with my younger son but it's like forcefeeding junk to kids without the health warning and it's soo predictable. However there's hope for some kids - a cynical, moaning, muttering old dear in the corner of the room except they just don't see it!!!
