Skating Away an observation on the impending global catastrophe of a new ice age? Ray Lomas might have said wot a load of bull*!&*! i'm sorry ian, much as i love the 40+ years of your work i can't buy this one! Sure Stormwatch 5 years later leans heavily towards this end, but Skating Away?!! Anyway its a great song without having to try and contemporise it.

I didn't see that either...at all...even with ian's recent explaination that he was ahead of the game on environmental concerns and cites skating away as proof--stormwatch for sure and, earlier, wonderin' again...but Skating fits into the TAAB and Passion Play themes about growing up and fighting your way thru daily strife. Oh well...he wrote the song...I guess he can decide what it means, even retroactively.

IA said almost the same when he introduced the song on the recent solo tour here in the UK. Don't buy it myself but as Steel said "he wrote the song".
BTW IA must get pi$$ed off with being asked the same kind of question(s) on every interview even from such knowledgable radio presenters as Johnnie Walker. No wonder he did it on the phone - not worth travelling from his home to the BBC for a paltry 12 minutes or so.

My little head is not up to that much analizing so I couldn't say if Skating Away has an enviromental point in it but Wondring Again is definitely a song before it's time, our Ian certainly saw the mess we're in coming when he wrote that!

he's on thin ice alright, with his recent reinterpretation of its meaning on the solo tour and the tour before that. Its a great song Ian but for pity sake desist
