That's news to me! Thanks for posting. This has to be one of the most anticipated releases from Jethro Tull EVER!

How about some "NEW" New name new title and new song.. Again we got more old stuff, fine it is a new DVD and CD It will be as new as last years Jack in the Green DVD. Yes it is footage we have not seen on DVD, yes it can be added to your collection of Tull. NO IT IS NOT NEW STUFF

NO IT IS NOT NEW STUFF I'm as frustrated about the lack of new material as you but I'd rather they released unreleased material from their hey day especially this performance which is probably the most famous Tull concert to date. It should have been released years ago. Much more looking forward to this than the mentioned St Brides Church gig CD which will no doubt contain a few cringe worthy moments.

Nice. I see you folks are getting this towards the end of September which means we in the States should see it some time in 2011 or 12.

It would be very interesting to know how many people have a bootleg of this concert. The one I have is a good quality one, from memory a copy of a Japanese broadcast. The "real thing" is long overdue.

A DVD from 1978 is all fine and good BUT--it is NOT some sort of holy grail or even Tull at their peak. Tull peaked between 1972 and 1975 and the true holy grail would be a high quality, complete gig from any of those 3 tours; Brick/Play/War Child.....some of the cobbled bits on you tube are very nice and well worth the time and taste of how it was...but as far as a really inspiring DVD from the past .....well....still waiting.

Arrgh. Couldn't agree more. Why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why OH WHY?!! could Tull's management not have sorted out multiple shoots of live concerts in 73 /74 / 75? Zep were taping, as were Genesis, Floyd blah blah blah. Bobbins. Total bobbins. Here's another question - why were Tull not featured on Whistle Test etc more regularly? Are there NO TV recordings between 72 and 75? Eh what?! Madness. It's enough to make you want to chew your own foot off (etc). At least we now know there are SOME decent live audio recordings from this period in Ian's attic. Let's get them out there eh? OI! Ian! Take that bus pass, put your feet up and get mixing son!

Having said all that the MSG 78 DVD is still a welcome addition!
I'll never be satisfied until I have
- a classic albums making of Thick As A Brick DVD; - a live Passion Play DVD compiled from five classic gigs with commentary from Ian, Martin, Jeffrey, John and Barrie; - another making of DVD for Minstrel featuring an hour's worth of restored rehearsal footage; - a documentary of the A world tour with behind the scenes footage, an in-depth look at the your catering and an analysis of jump suit fabrication technology
Plus
- a documentary about Ian's favourite cheeses; - an in depth look at Martin's stage footwear throughout the 70s; - Dave Pegg's toilet reading diaries, via sani-cam; - a commentary on ''the animated Gerry Conway's tax returns 1981-83''.
etc
I'm only partially joking by the way!

I'm here to educate you Tommy: the multi colored head schmatta had to go cuz the matching multi colored vests came from a Giddings girlfriend...so, I guess when the Giddings girlfriend and eventually Giddings himslef eras ended the head schmatta had to revert to biker's black. Anymore deep, important questions that can't wait till the 40th anniversary of the 40th anniversary?

A "Real Story" Tull DVD explaining:
1) what dye product Ian uses on his goatee and who applies it on the road ...or...
2) How his beard was almost totally grey in 1987 and has regained its natural rust colour
3) How Glenn and Mick kept their full heads of hair by leaving Tull just in time (and how poor Clive sadly stayed one album too long and so went bald)
4) How/Why Martin, Dave, Andy, and poor Doane started with full heads of hair only to go bald from Ian's......................
(I, too, am only partially joking, by the way)

I'd just like to echo many of the other posts, and say that, whilst I'd obviously prefer some new material, this will be a welcome addition to the collection.

Thanks, cool. At least someone appreciates my acerbic humour I for one wouldn't have it any other way I'll second that Tommie. Plus, I hadn't noticed the beard colour until you pointed it out - nice work! This is probably best saved for a future 'rainy-day' thread, but since we're discussing hair, perhaps the time has come for a full re-appraisal of Martin's combover circa 1980? You know, the one seen to full effect in that slow-motion windmill chord on the Slipstream video!? Back on topic briefly (what me?!) ... when's this MSG CD-DVD out? gx
