I agree and add this thought. Where would rock music be today without his inventiveness, foresight and imagination. It's a shame that here in Britain, one TV company did a short resume about his career with pictures of guitar players, at least 50% of which were either playing Fenders or other makes and not Gibson Les Pauls. Wow. This is news to me. I guess it's not that surprising, but it's sad nonetheless. He was a genuine guitar hero, a true legend.
