Just interested to see where we are here on this.
Choice A: Ian continues to do what he is doing for as long as he is physically able. You'll still get to see him and Tull on tour every year or two.
Choice B: Ian stops touring. He spends his time on other things such as writing that book he has mentioned and perhaps recording more. Maybe he might pop up for the occasional gig/small tour now and then but we are talking no more than 10-30 live dates every year or two.
I'd go for choice B. As well as seeing Ian do something creatively different from anything he has done before (he is so good with words) I'm convinced we would see a steady stream of new music recordings. So basically to me, I take recordings over gigs as my preference.

Oh sure, I'd take the recordings with a few local shows too if I was local.

Option B please.
Some new material would be good, even if it was to supplement the existing tour setlists.
I think pieces that vear away from the norm, such as Divinities, are welcome departures, albeit they are vastly underrated in the wider commercial context, but I'd love to hear Ian chance his arm a bit and do something a little more adventurous in the studio.

Maybe he's a bit dubious of stopping even for a short while in case he loses the momentum or he loses some of the fans but on that point, I don't understand why they don't market themselves more to attract old/new fans?? Also as TM rightly points out what about the wider, geographically speaking, fanbase? I would pick Option B - with a few tweeks Put the touring on hold for a year and concentrate the creative flow into writing both songs and a book. But then again I don't think it works that way,you can't sit down and write to order certainly not a book - a song's easier. I think he may have a few suprises in store coming up in the near future !!
