They wouldn't be my favourite album covers. I much prefer Catfish Rising, Minstrel in the Gallery and Stand Up. Rock Island is a great cover though.

Broadsword, Stormwatch and Songs From The Wood. I remember going to the record store (not CD'S) to purchase the last Tull album I didn't have at that time, that one being Too Old To R & R and finding a just released Songs From The Wood. And while Ian doesn't like to "look back", I find a flood of memories whenever I see that cover. (Front or back)

For me: "Stormwatch", "Broadsword", "Christmas Album". The last one could be "Songs From The Wood" as well.

Here's an interesting little snippette ( well I thought so) a fact I learned only a few months ago regarding the art work of Broadsword. As you probably know the art work was by Iain McCaig a Californian, what I didn't realise was that he studied at Glasgow School of Art at the same time I was hanging around there - not studying there BUT hanging around Anyone know why he studied at Glasgow and how he came to design Broadsword? i44.images obliterated by tinypic/sxdsme.jpg[/IMG]

Great minds QuizzKid. That's the 1 thing I do not like about CDs - the covers are too damn small for anything like those 3 album covers. Gate fold LP covers were like having your own little art gallery. The stuff they print on CD inserts is just too small for my 56 year old eyes.

Excellent cover and excellent album. There are a number of "grumbly grimblies" hiding in the grey and pink landscape. One time me and the girlfriend spent a long time trying to count them all. Caravan - In The Land Of Grey And Pink;

Slight change of topic here - I thought I'd post one of the funniest album covers I've ever seen. Hilarious! Here we have Herbie Mann in 1957 - Yardbird Suite. 14 years later in 1971... shirt off and making the flute "sexy" on an album entitled PUSH PUSH. lol. (Obviously all those Downbeat readers poll jazz awards went to his head).

Tull's best cover is, beyond a doubt, Under Wraps. I also like Catfish Rising & Passion Play.

I'm trying to think of a Tull album cover ( greatest hits etc etc excluded) that I didn't like.....RTB is a teeny bit boring.....but kinda cool close-up...you can always play 'how many of the urban symbols have i seen in person?'....ya gotta give Tull credit...they've always taken the time to think about and produce an artistic,memorable, relevant album cover for each release.
Do any of you know all the towers? the Eiffel Tower and Empire State Building are easy (for me) I think the seattle space needle is one but it could be one of many German TV towers (alexanderplatz)...I'm guessing the statue is somewhere in London....one building might be the sears tower in Chicago....there's 8 total....let's figure this out! A couple could be Italian or Turkish....but not Pisa...i hope I'm not missing 'Coit Tower' in SF...somewhat stylized
Clockwise from high noon then:
1-dunno-no clue 2-Empire State Building-NYC 3-dunno-Sears Tower Chicago? 4-dunno-no clue 5-dunno-Coit Tower San Francisco poorly drawn? 6-dunno-Seattle Space Needle? Berlin Alexanderplatz? 7-dunno-something in London? 8- Tour D'Eiffel-Paris
I learned that the WarChild cover is melbourne ....I never knew that when it was newish.
