From 1970 until 1974 Ian was married with Jennie Franks and I have heard a few times that they had a son together. Does anybody know about his first son???

I don't think that Ian and Jennie had any children. I'm lead to believe that after their divorce she moved to America where she remarried and had two daughters. She is now a playright (I believe) and still a photographer. Try a google search as this may reveal more infomation about her now.

Well, I read a few times about a son he had with Jennie, have to search again, if I find something I will publish it here, perhaps there are more people interested in it.

Given that he seems to talk openly about his ex-wife and the contributions she made in the early days of the band, it would appear unlikely that he would have had a child with her, and not ever mention it. He talks as if he enjoys kids, especially his own. Why would he not talk about all of them - if he had more than the two? Course, he has a grandchild and I don't believe he's ever talked about that. I did read a little factoid some years back which suggested he might have had a child with Jennie. But that was only one little snippet. I also read in another article that he had two sons with Shona! It wouldn't be the first time a reporter was guilty of shoddy research. I did, however, come across this. Granted it was written in 1971, but up to that point, there were no children. - excerpt taken from - Ian Anderson: Meaning And Meaninglessness Pat Patrick, Crawdaddy, 7/18/71
