Heard a tambourine in a JT song this morning...don't remember now which one....but I am pretty sure IA wasn't playing it because he was playing the flute more or less around the same time.
Now, I know he could have overlaid one or the other instrument in the studio, but let's say he didn't.
And I have an idea how many instruments he plays, but probably would miss a few.
But it got me thinking...I have seen in clips Martin play a recorder, Andy play a recorder and accordion, David Goodier play the tambourine (I think...).
So Ian isn't the only one who plays a variety of instruments.
But I don't know what-all everybody else plays. Anybody have an idea?
And also... how many different kinds of instruments have been employed by JT in over 40 years?

In addition, I have seen Martin play flute and sax. I believe the sax was during one of his own songs played during a JT concert. On Stand Up, Martin is listed as playing flute. Is IA credited with the bass on Stormwatch and programmed/electronic drums on Walk into Light? Plus he has played various stringed acoustic instruments over the years – e.g. mandolin etc. As for the amazing array of instruments deployed by JT over the years – how long is the sheet of paper. The mid 70’s must be the best period for all sorts of wonderfully strange and interesting instruments – all of which provided a distinctive JT sound. Now if IA was short of ideas for a new cd – the 70’s sound would again be welcome. But, alas, we know IA’s view would be that this would be a retrograde step.
