Manson super strat guitar, made for Martin Barre
This was custom built for Jethro Tull guitarist Martin Barre by luthier Hugh Manson in 1995 and is the very guitar featured on the inside sleeve of Martin’s solo album 'Stage Left’.
It was also used in the Tull tours in 1997, and can be seen in the video of the concert in Chile .
www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNdQZgeVZkE&app=desktop see 7:54, 16:50, 22:00 as quick views of it in action.
Main features include...
• Double cut strat shaped body
• Quilted maple top
• Very thin clear satin finish on body
• 22-fret maple bolt-on neck
• Ebony fingerboard
• 25 1/2" scale length
• Side marker dots
• Black Wilkinson trem with three rear springs (arm included)
• Black sperzel tuners
• Currently strung 9/11/16/24/32/42
• One body-mounted passive humbucker
• Two body-mounted EMG active single coils
• Two pots with push/pull
• Three mini toggle switches
The wiring is quite complex and there are many tonal options. A stereo cable can be used to split the output between two different amps.
Condition is excellent. Despite its pro ownership, it has surprisingly few dings and scratches (such as on the back, near the neck). The frets are also in excellent condition, with no nasty buzzes.
I'm selling because.... too many guitars and I'm thinning them out. I have another Manson strat, so one has to go.
We'll need to talk about delivery; there's no case, I can get one, I might deliver if you're in range ( I'm in south Devon); it'll work out.
Price: around
£1500, £1250 plus whatever we do for delivery ( new price!)
