Ian Anderson is to make a series of visits for fan Q&A and meet-and-greets in the next months. “My way of saying thanks to the core fan base for their loyalty and support over the years. Due to the intimate nature of these gatherings, numbers have to be held at 100 and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. The initial event is in Gava, Spain where many Tull conventions have been held in the past. There are just a few places left for this gathering to be held on this coming May 22nd at 19.00. For more information, contact Albert Villanueva at avillan1@xtec.cat Future events will, I hope, be in Italy, Netherlands, Czech Rep, Germany and the UK. As I have to fit these things in between touring and other commitments, it may be a bit last-minute, so forgive me if it doesn’t work for any hopeful attendees. See you somewhere up close and personal. Ask me a really tricky Q&A question. Watch me squirm and wriggle my way out of it. One signature, one photo and one frantic rubbing of elbows! Best, Ian Anderson” jethrotull.com/ian-anderson-to-make-a-series-of-visits-for-fan-qa-and-meet-and-greets/

I knew about the one planned for Tullianos and suspected at least Ittalians would be added. Pretty impressive. Ian continues to surprise and amaze. The sincerity and motivation behind a near worldwide encounter with the true believers deserve a lot of respect and admiration. I don't begrudge him skipping my unwieldy country, Ian has been more than fair and personable in endless 'meet and greets' and providing special moments for loyal fans.
The elephant in the room: Is Ian saying 'Goodbye'? To quote him on an old boot: Jesus Christ and John Lennon'! Let's hope Ian is not saying Good Bye.

The elephant in the room: Is Ian saying 'Goodbye'? To quote him on an old boot: Jesus Christ and John Lennon'! Let's hope Ian is not saying Good Bye. That would be the day that I cry... You know, that was the first thing that crossed my mind when I saw this. I hope not! I really hope not! I don't mind his voice! Heck, in a weird way, I prefer it! The new stuff is great, too. The rock opera was beautiful (still waiting for those new songs to be released properly). TAAB 2 was a masterpiece. Homo Erraticus was genius! I enjoy Ian better now than I did back in, say, 2005. Ian, please don't quit! Maybe another Rubbing Elbows??? Secret Language of Birds reissued? Don't strain your voice. No more Aqualung. Do more orchestral tours! "Up the Pool" live cannot be beat! Time to cater to the die-hards. I wish!!!

Basically Ian decides what he wishes to play and sing based on his own desires. Then he sometimes gets advice. HERE IT IS ... Play whatever you want except add at least 1 set of all new material !!! The last time they did that was 2014 and man did it ROCK !!! I know it's hard to do but you've done it before. Seriously I enjoyed every performance in different ways but I always look forward to NEW SONGS LIVE.
Without new material we become stagnant and too conservative... THE FUTURE IS NOW
DAMN THE CRITICS and LET'S ROCK !!!

Ian has done things like this before with his trip to Lower Basildon church where he was up for anyone to question him. There was also the Audience with Ian Anderson at All Flutes Plus, which OK was Ian playing his flute but again it was a big Q&A session as well. I really think he just enjoys talking to fans these days

I'm thinking that Ian will not milk a big farewell tour...and then follow it with invariable special appearances or even brief tours after. He will probably jut taper according to health and desire to tour and perform. The final act? Backyard concerts at his place? Expensive, exclusive, practical!
