Dear Tull-Fans! My name is Alex, a newbie here on this great site and a Tull fan for almost 40 years. I need some help from you experts: i recently bought 2 (!) boxes full of Tull Tour shirts. The former owner of these gems passed away and i took the opportunity to enlarge my personal collection...but there are plenty left. He obviously was a real Tullhead, as some of these shirts show prints of various JT conventions he visited, and the back prints of the regular tour shirts vary as he travelled a lot to see our heroes in many different cities on the same tour (that means, the front print stays, only the back print changed, depending of the area JT played).
The collection is mainly from the late 80s (COAK, Rock Island) up till the late 2000s, also including IA solo tours. I certainly picked some for myself, but I want to sell the rest. I would say that approx. 80% are UNWORN and therefore LIKE NEW, as this guy probably bought them at these shows and just stored and locked them afterwards. But even the worn ones are in fantastic shape, he really took care of them. A Tull fans dream, so to say.
My question is: do you have an idea about the value of these shirts in this condition, or where I can find some useful information? For records we use discogs, which gives us an idea of values for records in different conditions. Does something like this exist for tour shirts, maybe on a dedicated fanpage? Or does anybody of you know somebody who is a collector and/or seller? I certainly did some research on the net, but prices vary a lot and sometimes and i couldn't even find them all (which maybe is even a good sign, as they are rarer than others and therefore hard to find...but who knows). Some of the 70s shirts are offered for unbelievable prices, but unfortunately i haven't got any of those. But at least it shows that Tull is one of these bands with a potential collectors fanbase, and this is a chance to get some old stuff in extraordinary condition.
Any help on this issue is really much appreciated and I would like to thank you in advance.
Have a great and peaceful holiday season and all the best to all of you for 2019! Cheerio from Vienna/Austria! Alex
