Among those programs is the township's free Mayor's Summer Concert Series, which unofficially kicks off June 1 with five live acts at the township's 350th anniversary celebration on June 1 in Merrill Park. Those acts are Max Weinberg's Jukebox, The Nerds, The Jazz Lobsters, children's performer Tom Chapin, and the Wanted DOA tribute to Bon Jovi, two of whose founding members, drummer Tico Torres and ex-guitarist Richie Sambora were born in Woodbridge. But the official start of this year's concert series will be June 19 with Martin Barre of the classic rock band Jethro Tull, the first of nearly a dozen acts will perform in the weekly Woodbridge Wednesday through Sept. 4 in Parker Press Park in Woodbridge. www.heraldnews.com/entertainment/20190613/jethro-tull-guitarist-martin-barre-headed-to-narrowsJethro Tull guitarist Martin Barre headed to NarrowsPosted Jun 13, 2019 at 2:01 AM FALL RIVER - Martin Barre, the Grammy-award winning guitarist who played in Jethro Tull for 43 years, will be performing at the Narrows Center for the Arts on Sunday, June 23. Jethro Tull’s music represents an important part of classic rock history, with over 60 million albums sold. Barre’s guitar playing has earned him a high level of respect and recognition. He was voted 25th best solo ever in the U.S. for his playing on “Aqualung,” and he received a Grammy award for his playing on the album “Crest of a Knave” in 1988. He also influenced such contemporary guitarists as Joe Bonamassa, Steve Vai, Joe Satrini and Eric Johnson. In addition to Jethro Tull, Barre has worked with top artists like Paul McCartney, Phil Collins, Gary Moore, and Chris Thompson and has shared the stage with legends like Jimi Hendrix, Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. For Barre’s return to the Narrows, he has put together a stellar, full band to play the classic music from the Jethro Tull catalogue in order to give the audience a chance to hear the hits, such as “Aqualung,” “Locomotive Breath,” and “Teacher,” and songs that have not been performed for many years. Barre recorded and toured with Jethro Tull from the band’s second album in 1969 to the band’s initial dissolution in 2012. In the early 1990s he initiated a solo career that has now spawned four studio albums plus several guest appearances. He has also played the flute and other instruments such as the mandolin, both on stage for Jethro Tull and in his own solo work. Doors open at 7p.m. Narrows Center for the Arts is located at 16 Anawan St. For tickets, visit www.narrowscenter.org.

www.themidlandsrocks.com/martin-barre-worleys-at-the-swan-stourport-on-severn-tuesday-24th-january-2019/Martin Barre @ Worley’s at The Swan, Stourport-On-Severn – Tuesday 24th January 2019Nestled at the top of Stourport-on-Severn’s High Street is The Swan which, although you might not think it from the outside, offers a treasure trove of musical history within its walls. Fans of the golden age of rock (and roll) could easily spend an afternoon perusing the cuttings and photographs which act as the wallpaper, not to mention the impressive collection of guitars. But what makes this venue even more special is the punters; here to enjoy the music without the need to talk to their neighbour when the band play, push their way to the front or spend the evening with their eyes locked on their phones. The Swan offers music lovers the chance to appreciate a gig in the most pleasant of surroundings, and you will be rubbing shoulders with like-minded individuals and (maybe) the odd Rock legend or two. Since parting ways with Jethro Tull, Martin Barre has been afforded the chance to explore new avenues musically and has released four acclaimed solo albums in the past five years including 2018’s Roads Less Travelled. After a full band show the previous evening at The Robin tonight he was in acoustic mode, accompanied only by vocalist/guitarist Dan Crisp, and the pair performed a set that took in solo work, covers and a few Tull classics. And after spending decades on stage letting his guitar do the talking Martin is proving to be an engaging raconteur, with pre-song anecdotes that included growing up in Birmingham with lino on every floor of the house and the perils of French hotel rooms. In Dan Crisp he has found a terrific vocalist who was equally comfortable with the soulful renditions of ‘Can’t Find My Way Home’ and ‘New York Minute’ and the likes of ‘Wond’ring Aloud’ from the Tull catalogue. Although informing the audience that he couldn’t play the Blues (slightly ironic given the high regard in which he is held by Mr Bonamassa), Martin’s guitar playing remains distinctive and unique and he still plays with a simply sublime fluidity. Not that he was the only septuagenarian to grace the stage as he called upon original Tull drummer Clive Bunker to help out on a couple of numbers that made the evening even more special. The pair are soon to be reunited with Dee Palmer to tour the States with a fifty years of Tull show that will hopefully reach the UK in due course. After delighting the crowd for a couple of hours they concluded with, naturally, ‘Locomotive Breath’ to round off what was an outstanding performance in an incredible venue; you really couldn’t ask for anything more. The Cranleigh Folk Festival 2019 has been cancelled. The three-day event had been due to take place between 13-15 September. Over 3,000 visitors were expected to attend each day of the festival in Knowle Park. Confirmed headliners had included Jethro Tull, Martin Barre, and support from artists like Emilia Quinn, Nine Miles South, Backwoods Creek, Shaun Reilly, Telephone Road. The plug was pulled on the event after organisers struggled to secure enough sponsorship. In a statement they said: "The Folk Festival is designed to provide funds for the 1170 charity which supports the restoration work required for St Nicholas Church Cranleigh. "The decision to postpone the event has been taken after careful consideration and is done to ensure the charity is not compromised financially." Organisers of the Folk Festival have also thanked all those who gave their time to the event and say they are committed to meeting their obligations in full.

Thanks for posting bondy - the basic info dropped into my inbox this morning. I do find it slightly odd that some Australian ticket agency press releases are including a live video of Aqualung by Tull from London in 1977 which must hack Martin off a bit seeing as there are plenty of youtubes available of the MB Band. Ho hum
