Hi there,
Based on what I've read in Ian's recent interview for Bulgarian rock site (link below) and heard on press conference in Plodviv, Bulgaria (YT video seems no longer available): Ian is being closed in one of English cathedrals, recording the new string quartet album......RIGHT NOW!!! It is London's based Carducci String Quartet.
Classic Jethro Tull repertoire for strings, flute, acoustic guitar and vocals. John O'Hara is also involved in that project.
Due to release in first quarter of 2017.FINALLY!!! There was a word on it since (at least) 2012...
I am hoping for "Velvet Green" as it was performed at recent orchestral shows!
All the best from Poland

Jethro tull The String Quartets Pre-order the new album which features Jethro Tull hits, imaginatively arranged for string quartet by Ian Anderson LINKThe String Quartets is an album of classic Jethro Tull repertoire, imaginatively arranged for Classical string quartet with the flute, guitar and vocals of songwriter and producer Ian Anderson.
The String Quartets is a new album by Jethro Tull’s Ian Anderson and the Carducci Quartet featuring the classic songs of Jethro Tull, arranged and orchestrated by John O’Hara. Ian plays flute on most of the tracks and even sings a few lines here and there to provide his trademark sounds in the context of classical music traditions. Living In The Past, Aqualung, Locomotive Breath and Bungle In The Jungle are amongst the album track listing but appear, along with their fellow musical travelers, under more cryptic titles to differentiate them from the original recordings and arrangements.
Recorded in the crypt of Worcester Cathedral, UK and in St Kenelm’s Church, Sapperton, Gloucestershire, UK, Ian says that this album is “Perfect for lazy, long sunny afternoons, crisp winter nights, weddings and funerals.” He forgot to add, perfect also after a night of wild, abandoned sex or to celebrate the win of your favourite football team. Essentially, anytime music for sophisticated lovers of Classic Rock too afraid to wear their Tull T-shirt at the village barbecue.

Interested, only if this is recorded as instrumentals. Ian´s voice I´m afraid is long gone LIVE performances do not reflect the same quality that is done in a studio or even a church. Ian has made incredible albums over the years and this will meet anyone's standards that loves TULL. The reviews from recent shows were made after a long year of touring and back to back gigs in Germany. I expect this album to be even better than some which were considered excellent back in 1987... Grammy My order will arrive on March 31st next year and I will be the happiest TULL Fan in the whole U.S.A.

Interested, only if this is recorded as instrumentals. Ian´s voice I´m afraid is long gone Ian's vocal struggle is like the runner who gives 100% to cross the finish line, sweating and exhausted, or the weightlifter who gets red in the face and lets out a loud grunt to get the barbell back up again... the job gets done, and it's oh-so-satisfying. Sure, his voice isn't Minstrel in the Gallery quality, and sure, he often falls behind the meter, but it's magical. I prefer his voice now. I love the emotion. Look at Weathercock from the Rock Opera setlist. "... and whip around your (wait for it) TAIL!" Love it. Love the pause. Also, I love to hear different vocal lines to much loved classic songs. Sometimes he will write a new vocal line in counterpoint to the original line. Genius! If this album was strictly instrumental, it would be a damn shame.

Just downloaded the Christmas single and IA sings on it. His voice sounds good to me. One thing that caused me a little confusion is that it saved under Jethro Tull in my iTunes library and not under Ian Anderson. Took me a just little longer to find after it was downloaded.... and I have no intention of opening the Tull/IA name discussions again! Must admit it is strange to have albums under the "Jethro Tull", "Ian Anderson" and "Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson" artists lists though.

Have to admit that gave up trying to get my free download in the end (having pre ordered the CD) and just bought the single for 99p through ITunes. If you are on ITunes go to the store and look for Jethro Tull string quartet. If shows the album listing and you can download the one track. I figured it was worth 99p to not sit for an hour trying to figure out how you got the free download without signing up for spotify... and 99p is only the price of part of a pint nowadays.

Is Spotify the same type of thing as Soundcloud? Should I get a Nutribullet for Xmas? Oh I'm all excited!! This look's good. He's making music, he's tweaking with all the lovely originals - I'm happy. Here's a pic i66.images obliterated by tinypic/2a9w1w1.jpg[/IMG]

I don't think that his voice has "gone" it's changed and his music is evolving - can't be bad.

Received today from my friend Wazza (Italy), I think the only new thing is the name of the songs. Or maybe I have not been able to see it in the previous post Hello Tulliani nuovo album per Ian Anderson dei Jethro Tull...Classiconi arrangiati per un quartetto d'archi, precisamente il "Carducci Quartet", diretto dal maestro John O'Hara Da quanto sembra ha "riarrangiato" anche i titoli (!!), cantando poche strofe a brano.. In uscita nel 2017..staremo a sentire Wazza Tracce In The Past (Living In The Past) Sossity Waiting (Sossity: You’re a Woman / Reasons For Waiting) Bungle (Bungle In The Jungle) We Used To Bach (We Used To Know / Bach Prelude C Maj) Farm, The Freeway (Farm On The Freeway) Songs And Horses (Songs From The Wood / Heavy Horses) Only The Giving (Wond’ring Aloud) Loco (Locomotive Breath) Pass The Bottle (A Christmas Song) Velvet Green (Velvet Green) Ring Out These Bells (Ring Out, Solstice Bells) Aquafugue (Aqualung) Formazione Ian Anderson - flauti, voce John O'Hara - arrangiamenti orchestrali Matthew Denton - violino MIchelle Fleming - violino Eoin Schmidt-Martin - viola I have not translated it because Google does not work well with Italian, and although I understand it, I do not feel able to translate it correctly, maybe Ash or another Italian member can translate it, but the most notable is the name of the songs and this words "cantando poche strofe a brano..." translation "singing a few verses in song.."

Hi Steve, I just don't get it Downloaded that bloody ITunes thing onto my PC, registered, created shop account, gave credit card details... They even charged me for over one pound for seriously I don't know what... I still can't download the song. I am very angry with that I am probably thick as a brick

Hi Lukaswas, sorry to hear you are having problems. I am no computer wizard but I will try to help if I can. First thing, are you able to open iTunes? If you can, you should be able to see adverts for music, movies, tv shows, podcasts, etc. If you can see that, then there should be a tab for library. When you click on this you should then see another tab for music that can be changed to tv shows, etc. This is where all your purchased music or music downloaded from CD's is stored. Your new single should be in there...
If you have not bought the single, click on the tab that says store and then search for Jethro Tull quartets. This will then show the album listing - the only song you can buy just now is "Pass the bottle" and it is shown as 99p. When you click to buy it, it will download automatically to your library. One thing I am not sure of however is if it is available on other countries iTunes systems - would think it would be though.I quite like ITunes as it will tell you if you have purchased something already - so if you have bought "Pass the bottle", it will tell you you have bought it already and guide you from there.. Not sure why they would have charged £1 already as downloading iTunes is free as far as I know.
Hope this helps, Steve

Hi Nonrabbit, did you try to sign in without using Facebook. Guess it might work that way... Hi Steve, Well I found out how to deactivate Spotify from my FB page - which incidentally I didn't even know I activated. Worth paying a visit to FB settings - Apps to see what may or may not have appeared there. So started again with Spotify, registering with email address instead of through FB. So far so good, had a blip with choosing a username that hadn't been used before then got to adding my email address. Every bloody email address that I tried (and I have four) a message said " already in use" So goodbye Spotify you clearly don't want to know me. Sorry Steve the rant was for Spotify

Is there anyone who has been able to play the song here? play.spotify.com/album/6djH6aehs1wpVzvOCfgsN8(after logging in with Spotify of cource, wich as such is not so difficult) JG

Nothing on Amazon yet...but I'm sure they will be happy to trade music via electrons for my money via electrons when the time comes.
