yeah...Bert is a very solid star in the Tull universe sky....above all, He has earned sincere and ongoing respect from Ian with whom he has had an ongoing relationship for many years. The internet is great and all that...but there is still nothing like meeting Tull friends in real life....2013 has blessed me with Ray and Bert and my friends in Europe all got the same answer to the question of when I'll be back: Barcelona 2015. An Argentinian friend who lives in hamburg has a second home in Portugal that he will put at our disposal for after the Tulliano festival.....hey, you brits aren't still mad about that falkland business are you?

Good to have you back Bernie and good to know you've been able to meet up with Bert and Ray. All good Tull friends together eh? I hope you have a warm blanket with you in California, you don't want to catch a chill, do you?. Don't mention the war, I think I did once but I got away with it.

The Falklands bizness wasn't big news around here....more like a 'mouse that roared' comedy from afar...but i do remember a picture in Time Magazine of the British Navy Destroyer 'Broadsword' steaming down the the southern hemisphere to save yer far flung shepherds.

Great to have you back Bernie - you were missed.
That's the best Tull fan pic ever and will be framed and stuck on the Forum's mantelpiece!

Sorry if I offended...no war is funny...not a single casualty...especially the examples of the USA,. constantly and universally: Grenada, Panama, Nicaragua. Sorry I didn't think it out when i remembered the Argentina vs UK conflict...it was just the first thing that popped into my head concurrent to inviting any forum members who make it to Barcelona to also make a trip for some fun days in Portugal....If I was a European i could have made a historical soccer reference but since I'm empty headed in that area, I clumsily brought up the war.

My apologies Jack and anyone else if the flippant remarks offended - they in no way represent what I feel about the Falklands or any other wars.

No problem guys, I over reacted maybe, so I am sorry too, I know that the posts were only fun, but that conflict was one of the first I remember taking place in my lifetime and seeing it happen on TV. Now it is even more instant with internet etc. I was 27 in 1982 and my kids were only 4 years old and one newborn that year. I remember being worried as such, Argentina is a huge feckin country and I hoped we hadn't bitten off more that we could chew.... Watching on TV the ships blowing up etc was horrendous. GB lost over 250 men and Argentina an awful lot more, over 600. The lethal combination of their Super Etandard plane armed with the Exocet missile.......ffs, if they hadn't run out of those who knows what the outcome might have been. I took a real interest of what was happening at the time and am writing from my pretty vivid memory and not google, also have a vague memory of watching a programme on TV not so long ago which re-told the story. The awful burn injuries suffered by so many from the ships that were hit......the Welshman Simon Weston, who became a household name here, a brave man indeed...... Sorry for the morbid post, back to the Tull.........

I know, I remember all those things too also thinking (and with the Gulf war) how weird (?) it was to watch it happening on TV -thinking back to previous conflicts.
