That Sackful, which I don't think I ever heard until the download days but long knew of, just may be the best of the old bootlegs I have heard, including good sound.

That Sackful, which I don't think I ever heard until the download days but long knew of, just may be the best of the old bootlegs I have heard, including good sound. One of the classic Tull bootlegs. In its original issue of two vinyl albums it's now worth mega bucks. Recorded 6 April 1977 at the Anaheim Convention Center, California. Now "reissued" on cd with a classic mispelling on the cover ". . .Trouser nsakes" Wond'ring Aloud / Skating Away / Jack-In-The-Green / Thick As A Brick / Songs From The Wood / Velvet Green / Hunting Girl / Too Old To Rock'n'Roll; Too Old To Die / Beethoven's Ninth Symphony / Minstrel In The Gallery / Cross Eyed Mary / Aqualung / Wind-up (including a snippet of Bach's Double Violin Concerto), Back-door Angels, Locomotive Breath, The Dambusters March & Land of Hope And Glory (medley)

Wow! what a great collection of Tull memorabilia It's nice to see a selection of memories of Jethro Tull over the years. I'm pleased to be reminded of that amazing Nostel Priory event back in 1982, Jethro Tull were of course the headline band with the likes of Lindisfarne and The Blues Band as guests and Ian Anderson giving Marillion a chance to to play after they sent him some demo. tapes. Not only was the music great there was a tanker of Theakstons beer to get through.Happy days!!! Thanks very much Maddogfagin ;D

I know Dave Swarbrick and Simon Nicol from Fairport were on that bill too. I barely got there in time to see Tull. I suspect Peggy played with Simon and Swarb. Was listening to an RT show from 82 in the midst of the Broadsword tour that Pegg travelled a couple hundred miles if I remember right to play with his buddies, I think Swarb came by for that round too and Simon was pretty much always with RT in those years. I recall Pegg to be wearing some totally zany conical hat at that show, the Tull one, he struggled to remember it when I was talking to him about it some years ago, I have seen pictures in recent years that let me know I was not imagining it. No Tull player has been kinder to the Tullies than Dave, although Doane gives him a serious run.

I also remember that Ian came out playing the bagpipes at that show, only time in 80 or so that I have seen that. Forget if he had the kilt on, I know he did not leave it on if he did. Saw a picture the other day of James Anderson in a Anderson tartan kilt, notably to me anyway the same tartan as his Dad wore on the TAAB tour. i t was at some friends wedding, I will bet someone he knew from the time spent on Skye, as I think there were other kilts in attendance.

Latest addition to the Maddog archive and a European pic sleeve issue I've been after for some time It always puzzled me why here in the UK we usually only got boring company paper sleeves in the early days, apart from a few exceptions, and the French, Germans etc got pic sleeves.

David Pegg is completely and absolutely in a league of his own in the category of hanging with fans...I mean, really, even by friendly fairport standards and very communicative and engaging Doane....there is NO ONE...who is willing to get down with fans like Pegg...'My drinks with Pegg' would need to be a whole seperate thread and i know I am one of thousands who can claim multiple, serious drinkdowns with him as well as request a fee from Tull for preventing him from getting lost, arrested, mugged and deported on many occasions. Those were the days! It took me a few life-threatening hangovers and flourescent bile-tinged vomits to learn that the honor of drinking with Tull's bassist should not blind me to my own limitations....I learned the hard way!

I wasn't allowed to name the house with any Tull related name although I have to say the thought was there! Know someone who called his house "Acres Wild" which I reckon is the best house name going, especially if you arn't a gardener. As for the memorabilia I've just about got through the smaller items so I'm going to have to invest in a digital camera as I've got some large posters etc which would be nice to put here. The other choice place on the web is ebay as there are always items people are selling and sometimes the images are quite good. But thanks for the compliment. Always good to know folks like threads such as this. Cheers Maddog

You must be joking ;D Well, just a couple who forget we can keep a track on them and see who they are when they drop by to have a sneeky look in. But they are very welcome. I do like the idea of Paradise Steakhouse - good name for one of those greasy spoon cafes up on the A1, by Scotch Corner.

And extremely generous as well. When DP heard we were going to have a raffle for the NSPCC at one of the first UK Conventions he offered one of his tour jackets as a prize which we gratefully accepted. I did have the forsight to photograph it before it was raffled and I've often wondered if anyone knows who finally won it.

The back stage pass shown leads me to ask, has anyone out there managed to get one in the past? And if so how do you go about getting them? Cheers!

The back stage pass shown leads me to ask, has anyone out there managed to get one in the past? And if so how do you go about getting them? Cheers! Back when Kenny Wylie was in charge of such things it was relatively easy to get a backstage pass as long as he knew that the person requesting one was genuine and not a time waster or a complete twat. The AND staff members could get one easily because they either took the tour photographs (first 3 songs only if I remember correctly) or were in some way helping the band. Others got them if they were involved with other aspects of the band such as conventions etc. As for myself I’ve only ever asked for a couple, when the UK Conventions were being organised and we had to liase with the band for one reason or another, and Kenny was more that helpful on that score. Obviously friends and relatives got one but the crunch came when Kenny left the Tull entourage and others took over. Those people who assumed they would get a pass as of right were refused, correctly in my opinion, and they are now handed out to folks who are genuine with their requests so they can meet the band after the shows etc. The last I heard, and the policy may have changed subsequently, any passes were handed out on an individual show basis and not for the whole tour as was the case in the past. I reckon that to get one these days you may have to contact the tour manager directly before the show or even on the night of the show. Best of luck.

I had that Whats It All About 45, nearly as lame as it gets, sort of like if a Christian network did an interview with him. Paid something silly for it like 10 dollars, got Sunshine Day at the same time, probably early eighties. I loaned both to a friend that has long since passed away, I miss him, do not miss those discs, 20 year box replaced Sunshine Day. I do recall Ian talking about inspiration, and a supermarket of inspiration, being an interview with Ian, of course I found interest. If u could hear the guy interviewing him though, it could not have been more milquetoast. Btw nothing against Christianity specifically, i do tend to still be answerable to its main man, but anything I have heard of Christian music for instance baffles me that this is considered music of the Creator, it is actual blasphemy. That performance of My God the other night however...
