Although riots at Detroit concerts are 'dog bites man' stories...in the more gentle Tull history books, it is noteworthy that there were Tull riots at Cobo hall, the big place they played in the 70's, multiple times...broken glass, arrests and far more Tull fans that seats/ places to stand.

I remember a radio interview when Ian said he would not do 'Free Concerts' because of stuff like this. If you throw a party for 20,000 people and things get out of control, it makes everyone look bad...

Just further down the right hand side of the building I was with my mate acoustic1 and my brother listening to the band doing there sound check and all of a sudden Ian popped out the door with this other guy who was taking photo's of him. I had my camera and lens separate in my coat pocket ready to sneak it in and couldn't get it put together in time to grab a photo of the headmaster. Typical Great concert.

The Swan that night in 89 was the closest I had ever felt to believing I had actually been sent to the right planet. Later that same evening included the teeniest romance with a woman with whom I had previously had a snowball's chance in hell of ever kissing. My friend wisely attributed the momentary and never repeated success to 'Tull Glow'.
