I have no idea if my attempt to post a you tube link will work. Haven't tried afore...
I'm recuperating at home from surgery and have discovered clips of me 'acoustic' that I wasn't aware of (I most frequently operate in a rock-band scenario, so this was a rare outing)
From last Septembers Otley Folk Festival (in the drink-free Methodist Hall!) it's my tribute to a very special lady - Jane Tomlinson - who spent her last few years, whilst dying of cancer, fundraising for cancer charities (all over the world). Please google her and, if you've the will, mebbe consider donating to her charity causes, or similar, this Christmas? Thanks.
Please persevere through the song-preamble chat that comes first - it does set up how the song came about.

Hello HF Andy ;D I really enjoyed that lovely song and a beautiful tribute to someone that I have certainly heard about and followed her inspiring story that seemed to stretch long after doctors or anyone could quite believe - just shows you the power of the human mind. Not only pushing herself to keep going for her family but as you say, for others in her situation -not everyone can run marathons however no one with or without cancer could fail to be moved by her tremendous spirit and determination and the legacy she left to her family. So I started snooping round your other videos and didn't realise you were such the prolific muso - loved the live songs! Must get junior to come along to hear you - he lives in Skipton and myself the next time I'm visiting - N Yorkshire !! " Close the gates"

Thanks NR I'm a prolific music 'fan' first and foremost. With Tull top of the list of all time faves - ever since I bought Benefit when it came out!
Jane Tomlinson was a true heroine. I hope lots of folk continue to contribute to the cancer charities she fought so bravely for - or any such charities. That's what my post is put there for.
Skipton? Gateway to the Dales - I know it well. Have played the folk club there as 'guest' a couple of times. I'm incapacitated by post-op probs at pres - but we'll do the postponed full leccie band Christmas gig at Otley (virtually next door to Skipton) sometime in the new year - I'll letcha know - so's yer kin (and mebbe yersel) can come see. Owzat?

Well - here's the song that followed that last one, and finished our set that night, afore Chumbawumba came on. The early reference (and later 'look-ups') are at the row of folk (rather appropriately) dressed as Pirates that were on the balcony just above Anne

Good one Hipflask I do like me a sea shanty folkie number! We will catch up in the Skipton region hopefully next year - son keeps talking about hiring out a barge that would be good. I love N Yorkshire always meant to visit it but never got the chance until he moved there the scenery the villages and the stone houses are awesome - accents not bad either
