So who is this Eboue? i don't remember you complaining about him last year. I'm not oriented anymore, you see. 0-0 isn't that bad, but that means they get credit, is that right? 3 points for a win 1 point each for a draw but, in our positions, we and Spurs have to see it as 2 points lost. I could write a paper on Eboue but, in a nutshell, he's a liability and a cheat. When we were doing well, I guess, I tended to look more towards the positive aspects. Cheers, Jioffe. Which is positive, the liability or the cheat?

Does that mean you'll start foaming at the mouth and falling over backwards? ;D Ever heard of The Multicultural Society? I'm also surprised you didn't drag up 1919! I really hope you get the chance! And your phoenix (oops, sorry - chicken!) is doing what, exactly? For one very good reason, it's a crap name! Better colours? Only if you're watching in black and white! Better pasties? I should care. I'm vegetarian! Cheers, Jioffe. I'm sorry, Quizz, but this is a long standing committment and I'm nothing if not a loyal girl! Still, there's always room for a second favorite team and you know I'm on your side too. But I must tell you that Jioffe put a lot of effort into his recruitment. I need a little something more than pretty colors as a motivation. Where does a name like Hotspur come from anyway? Don't they have cheese pasties, Jioffe? Rebecca, no worries, some of my best friends are Gooners. Citing either The Arse or The Spuds as your second favourite team, if one of them is your first choice, is not somethingthat many people will own up to... At least you've gone for a London team and I won't knock that, it could have been a lot owrse and you could have gone for Man U or Liverpool having said that I'm not a tribal fan, and actually think Arsenal have done a lot of good for the game, enfocing a cap on players wages for one thing. It's a pity it gets spoilt by the Chelsea's amd Man U's of the game. Still before the premiership finally implodes it's good to see some overseas interest being established. 1882 Club formed by boys from Hotspur cricket club and from the local grammar school. The name of 'Hotspur FC' was adopted. 1883 Club reorganised under the presidency of Mr John Ripsher. Club colours - navy blue. Matches played on Tottenham marshes. 1884 Club re-named 'Tottenham Hotspur Football and Athletic Club'. Why Hotspur? Well the link below should set out part of the story but it's all down to Henry "Harry Hotspur" Percy [1366-1403]. www.spurshistory.com/pages/9.htmThis is taken from a local history website: "Medieval England was chock full of people who liked an argument, but Henry 'Harry Hotspur’ Percy pretty much took the top prize. It’s highly likely that he was able to start a fight in an empty room.
The Percys were the uncrowned kings of the north east during the 14th and 15th centuries, and their support was vital to the king in an age when a king ruled only if he had the support of his nobility. The Percy family came over from Normandy with William the Conqueror, and immediately set to pacifying the good people of Northumbria, while keeping the Scots out of northern England - with varying degrees of success.
This kept them busy for a good few centuries and turned them into a dynasty of tough blokes who relished a fight. "Harry Hotspur" was straight out of this mould - he earned his nickname through his bravery in battle.
Hotspur was immortalised by Shakespeare in Henry IV Part One as a charismatic warrior and the hero of the piece - as well as a young contemporary of the 15 year-old Prince Harry. Shakespeare made that part up, as Hotspur was in fact 37 years old at the Battle of Shrewsbury - and already something of a celebrity.
In other respects, however, Shakespeare captured Hotspur pretty well: He lived in the saddle, was headstrong and quick to settle a perceived insult with his sword."The story goes that the lads who set up the club in 1882, lived in Northumberland Park and Percy House was nearby, so they made the link and adopted the name.
And our pasties are rather good....however the sit down banquet buffet at the emirates is more civilised and even tastes better when you draw 4-4 in the last minute and watch Wenger fall to his knees.

The Palace mascot is better than yours anyday ;D and he/she does a better Tommy Cooper impression I see that he could swallow a Palace suasage roll either I suspect it may be the same "bird" moonlighting There was a period a few seasons ago where our cockerel developed breasts like your "Eagle", these days they'd be man-boobs, but then "Chirpy" seemed to be wearing a bra and furry trimmed shorts. I do suspect it was Arsene Wenger trying to sneak in to trip up Martin Jol after their touchline bust up..

And on the news front, Chelsea sacked Scolari. What the heck?! I'm pleased because: - Of the way they treated Avram Grant;
- They buy the best and he couldn't cut it. Who's next?
- Chelsea are in the doo-doos!
I'm sad because: - I liked the guy and sad to see him go;
- Chelsea weren't doing well under him;
- They weren't prepared to give him time.
Still a £7.5m quid pay-off's not too shabby for 8 months work! Cheers, Jioffe.

Citing either The Arse or The Spuds as your second favourite team, if one of them is your first choice, is not somethingthat many people will own up to... That's the benefit of standing outside it. I can be unconventional! At least you've gone for a London team and I won't knock that, it could have been a lot owrse and you could have gone for Man U or Liverpool Well what would be the point? If I were hanging online with Davy Jones or Ringo Starr, it might be different. With all due respect to the true fan in California, of course, it just isn't the same! having said that I'm not a tribal fan, and actually think Arsenal have done a lot of good for the game, enfocing a cap on players wages for one thing. It's a pity it gets spoilt by the Chelsea's amd Man U's of the game. Still before the premiership finally implodes it's good to see some overseas interest being established. I was going to do a chart this year, but that didn't work out. I depend on you guys! 1882 Club formed by boys from Hotspur cricket club and from the local grammar school. An admirable job indeed! You have earned your place. And that's one thing I was thinking - I had the impression that Hotspur was the team you were "born with" - your home ground. Is that right? I don't know where this Northumberland park is.
And our pasties are rather good....however the sit down banquet buffet at the emirates is more civilised and even tastes better when you draw 4-4 in the last minute and watch Wenger fall to his knees.

My one, true team, FC St. Pauli...a 2nd league team in germany, is threatening to end up in the top 3 and rise to the mighty Bundesliga next year...where they will be walloped, embarrassed and quickly relegated...but boy do i NEED to support them in their 2 games against hometown rivals :HSV who are corporate, stuffy, commercialized and staid compared to FC St P.- the team of the hippies, punks, anarchists and mentally ill street people! Every couple you meet at their games is the same: he used to be a boxer, pimp, gypsy,thief, bar owner and she was a good hearted whore! I need an English team...Crystal Palace sounds too much like a place to get methamphetamines, Arsenal is too easy....all the info from Nick Hornby books and any team involved with Oasis, Rod or Elton is also out...who knows what team Ian and other Tullies have come out for over the years?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tottenham_Hotspur_F.C. Fun to read because I worshiped Spurs when I was a tyke. Have no fear, hockey is #1 here, now. ;D What football/soccer? I still cheer for Spurs when I see them here on the sports channel, Everton too. "Tottenham Hotspur were the first club in the 20th century to achieve the League and FA Cup Double, winning both competitions in the 1960–61 season. In 1963 they became the first British club to win a major European trophy — the European Cup Winners' Cup."

Did the research on the Spurs....they got me at the word 'Yid'........they join FC St Pauli in Hamburg and Botafogo....a Rio team in the Brazil league as my triumvirate of teams. The pro-jew vibe of Ajax somehow fails to sway me but finding it in the Totteham genetics tipped the scale...I'm in!

Roll on Aston Villa Good luck to Palace, like Newcastle, they need support through the bad times, caused by poor financial management and bad chairmanship. I know Palace have been there before in the past, particulalrly the end of the Noades era, but I'm sure they'll pull through. Lending my support for what is essentially my nearest league club I went to the Wolves cup reply last week and whilst it was a pretty boring game, Palace did a good job of ouclassing Wolves though, who were abysmal. Butterfields hat-trick in 6 mins 48 secs was the highlight in generally slow game.

Spurs are essentially a Jewish club, the YID chant was coined by opposition supporters to rile the team and the supporters, but it was adopted by the home supporters as a way of saying it doesn't intimidate us. Like Palace we have had our bad times financially, but with some pretty astute management [by Alan Sugar] in the past we are now one of the few clubs without severe financial ills. That also means we refuse to pay players at a level like Chelsea, Man Utd, man City and Liverpool so breaking into the premiership top four is always going to be difficult. COYS BTW, I remeber seeing a lik to a rodio show where Ian said who his "favourite club" was, I never got to hear it and can't find it now, so can anyone tip me off?

Goal of the seaon (?) from Palace v. Aston Villa last Sunday A fine contender indeed. A great goal and so unlucky for palace, it was clealry a goal kick and not a corner, so the second villa goal should not have happened. No doubt Warnock will get slammed and fined by the FA for speaking out against incompetent refereeing. If you win your replay, and we win ours against Bolton and we can wend our way through the quarter and semi's let's hope for a Spurs - Palace final.

Now that would interesting ;D Two things would be guaranteed 1. It would be a sell-out game 2. Palace would have a new owner to make full use of the publicity. Warnock's a great manager. Met him briefly at Tavistock FC a couple of seasons ago when Palace did a pre-season tour of the west country. A pleasure to talk to and I must admit his "outbursts" always have a ring of truth about them. He certainly is his own man.
