Some less well known bands that done the circuit and influenced the mainstream P(p)rog bands of the early 70's however didn't achieve the same success. I can only comment on the Scottish ones and there were some despite general knowledge that the UK's late 60's early 70's prog period was centered in S England. When I say Scotland I don't think there was much happening - prog wise in the likes of Auchtermuchty or Auchenshuggle so for this and according to my personal experience I mean Glasgow and Edinburgh Hope this thread will include all other early prog bands from elsewhere so please post your favourite. CLOUDSA three piece, critically acclaimed band from Edinburgh en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clouds_(60s_rock_band)with Billy Ritchie - influential keyboardist en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Ritchie_(musician)They were one of Terry Ellis's first signings Hollowmoor has posted on the Forum about them previously and had a great response from an email he sent to Billy. Billy talks about the band and also his memories with Tull; jethrotull.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1579One of the things which struck me about the album they released in 1969 - Scrapbook was it's artwork - perhaps by the same artist as LITP? i53.images obliterated by tinypic/2nhdmza.jpg[/IMG] a great single and a softer example of the music they normally played Considered to be a great Live band who influenced Yes/ELP/King Crimson This from Beat Club approx 1970

Yeah I remember Clouds as being a good band. Whether we saw them live is questionable (maybe the Blue Anchor or The Greyhound in Croydon) but worth investigating I reckon.
