Just got
Extended Versions myself for less than $8.00 delivered half way across the world.
The grab of the very end of
Locomotive Breath that steelmonkey reported before the start of
Living In The Past/Protect And Survive medly is just one of many errors reported in Tull releases. Greg Russo in his comprehensive
Flying Colours book mentions these:
• The original US CD of
Aqualung was missing the last thirty seconds of
Wind-Up, and so was the reissued LP.
• Original UK
Broadsword And The Beast CDs were mastered by a disgruntled Chrysalis employee that substituted a transfer from noisy vinyl instead of the proper master tape!
• The UK 2CD of
Bursting Out was incorrectly mastered and had slight edits and fades in the wrong places. On the original 2LP set, Ian Anderson bids the audience farewell after
Cross-Eyed Mary, but on the double CD, he says goodbye after
Quatrain.
Quatrain led directly into
Aqualung on the original double LP.
Aqualung on the double CD has just the last note of
Quatrain preceding it. The 2004 remaster is finally correct!
• On
Original Masters the new, younger employees at Chrysalis had no idea that the version of A
qualung they used was not the one on the original album (it was the mix used on
M.U.).
• The 2001 remaster of
Benefit was supposed to include
Teacher (#1), but they used #2 by mistake.
• A quadrophonic version of the album
Aqualung made in 1974 used an alternate (almost solo) take of
Wind-Up in place of the correct version.
• Initial copies of the
Fly By Night single had quick piano chords preceding the B-side
End Game were inadvertently included on the 45. When this error was spotted, the album version was substituted.
I have a
j-tull DOT COM promo CD by Fuel 2000 which has four tracks (two versions of
Spiral with
Dot Com and
Wicked Windows). One of the
Spiral tracks is claimed to be a single version but both
Spiral tracks are the same as far as I can tell. Although the two versions of Spiral have different running times, the difference is due to IA’s spoken introduction to one of the tracks!
Anyone noticed any other errors?
