Hello. I'm confused. Who played the piano and hammond organ in the seventies in tull? Was it John Evans or Jeffrey Hammond? Thanks.

It is easy: Jeffrey Hammond played the hammond organ and because of that he doubled the "Hammond" in his name : Jeffrey Hammond Hammond. John Evans played the bagpipes at that time and he danced the pas de deux - all at the same time what was quite difficult to do.

John Evans was the keyboards for Tull! If you had the privilege of attending the A Passion Play tour, you would've heard John at his finest. Amazing!

Oh, one other thing. David Palmer joined Tull as a fulltime (keyboard, pipe organ) member I believe during the Songs From The Wood sessions. Tull then had two keyboard guys. He later packed Tull in and had a sex change operation. He/she is now known as, Dee Palmer.

Jeffrey Hammond Hammond was Tull's bass player from the TAAB album through to and including MITG. He was replaced by John Glascock. BTW, John Glascock was the bass player in a band called, Carmen. Carmen was Tull's opening act during the American/Canadian leg of the War Child tour.

It's a shame to me that John isn't out playing. Is he retired from construction in Australia yet? He and David Palmer were incredible in the version of the band along with Barriemore Barlow on drums, John Glascock <--- [insanely talented guy and officially my favourite bass player ever] and of course the Mighty Martin [days of Les Paul and Hamer geets <---- King of FAT bucker sounds back in the day and I see he's back on them again... yay] :-)

The official JT site says "John emigrated to Australia many years ago and now lives mostly in Melbourne where he sings in local choirs and still enjoys music although no longer as a piano player, having suffered hand damage as a result of long-distance bicycle touring and rallies. throughout the world in his middle years."He sold off a lot of his music memorabilia many years ago, including his presentation discs that he received from his time with Tull as they were up for sale at eil.com. Shame really but I suppose the reasons will remain shrouded in mystery for all time. This one of his presentation discs Welcome to the Jethro Tull Forum guitarver and I look forward to your observations and thoughts about the band.
