Hello everyone. I was listening to the storm watch remastered cd and heard there are female voices in a stitch in time. It makes the song sound interesting and really good. Does anyone know who the two or three ladies are? Thanks. Warchild82

I'm pretty sure Maddy Prior was a back up singer on Stitch in Time and also, maybe a woman named Angela Allen something like that.........

If my memory serves me well Angela Allen was John Glascocks' wife and singer in his pre Tull band Carmen.

Hello,
I'm pretty sure, that the singers were Shona Anderson and Cherry Gillespie (from Pan's People) who also sang backings on Maddy Prior's "Woman in the Wings", which was produced around the same time as "Stich In Time" (1977, 1978) and not in 1975, 1976 when Angela was singing.
By the way, I was in Maison Rouge studio watching and listening, when they recorded the backing vocals for Maddy's album!

That would be interesting to read about when you have the time to post about it. I don't know much about Shona or maddy, but I'm sure there were nice if you met them. Also, was Angela Allen the singer in carmen or was she a back up singer? I'm interested.

Carmen was the warm up band in America in Spring of 1975...they called there schtick 'Flamenco rock...I don't remember much about the performance beyond good female(s) voice, a bit of swirly dancing and a lot of impatience for Tull to start. Maybe they were signed to Chrysalis....I can't think of any obvious reason they hit the road with Tull.

It was in summer 1977 when I visited Maison Rouge, because it was also the office of "Salamander & Son" (Tull production company) and they promised me some promo material, because at that time I wrote for a kind of "A New Day" information paper in Germany. When I arrived there Ian's secretary asked me to stay, because she expected him to arrive to make the recording for the backing vocals for Maddy's album. Tull's engineer Robin Black was very kind and showed me everything including the Maison Rouge Mobile studio. Ian arrived shortly afterwards with Shona in a Ford Capri. When we sat down in the controlroom of the studio, I remember him talking about the price he was offered to pay to buy the Strathaird estate on Skye and he seemed very pleased with it ( I think it was 250.000 pounds). Then he went into the recording room with Shona and Cherry Gillespie from Pan's people ( whom danced on Top of the Pops and to Pan Dance in Tull's London concert in 1974. Cherry is also seen in the 2old2 Rock'n'Roll TV show). There is not much to tell about the rcordingprocess. It was like a recording session of backing vocals, which is in every case not too exiting! Cheers 10 cars

Cool...how many ways can one picture scream 1977; the sideburns, the boots and the van advertising water beds for a start!

Steeleye Span thread anyone?
