Festival legends meet again www.iwcp.co.uk/news/music/festival-legends-meet-again-34367.aspxQuote: Festival legends meet again By Jamie White - Friday, August 20, 2010 iwcp.co.uk: MUSIC SOME of the famous acts who appeared at the 1970 IW Pop Festival are re-uniting in America to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the world-famous event. American Cinematheque’s annual Mods and Rockers Film Festival will kick off later this month, with a celebration that will include appearances by former members of the Doors, the Moody Blues, Jethro Tull and Emerson, Lake and Palmer. Those bands performed at the 1970 IW Festival, with The Who, Joni Mitchell, Donovan, John Sebastian and Jimi Hendrix, who died 18 days later. They are seen in the documentary Message to Love, which will screen in Hollywood on Thursday. The IW performances by the Who and Hendrix will be the focus of the third night of the festival and a 1970 concert film of the Moody Blues and a new documentary about the history of the Mellotron, featuring interviews with musicians such as Brian Wilson and Rod Argent, will also be shown. The final night of the festival will feature screenings in Santa Monica of Leonard Cohen Live, The Other Side of the Mirror, about Bob Dylan’s early career, and Festival, highlighting artists who appeared at the Newport Folk Festival between 1962 and 1965.

Thanks TT great find My son is still pluckin away at Aqualung and learning the tabs - he asked who I thought was the greatest guitarist ever and after I answered MB - obviously ;)and after he gave me the obligatory "eyes to the ceiling" I said Hendrix. Junior, with all the rebellious spirit of the teenager and wanting to be a bit more bang up to date, said ; "He's rubbish - there's loads better than him" Ahhh can't wait till he's matured a couple of years - music wise
