Need some help/opinions about the exact words in parts of the lyrics, please. I forget whether or not "Living in the Past" came with a lyrics sheet. The Official Web Site has not gotten to LITP in their discography yet, so no help with lyrics accuracy there. This is what I have as my best guess/sampled across many tab websites. There are two places I am uncertain about (my vote is in ALL CAPS):
"I've one foot in the graveyard and the other on the bus, and the passengers do trample each other in the rush. And the chicken hearted <lawman|LONGHAIR|??> is throwing up his fill to see the kindly doctor pass the super <pill|KILL>. Well, I'm going down, three cheers for Doctor Bogenbroom. Well, I'm on my way, three cheers for Doctor Bogenbroom.
Well, I've tried my best to love you all, all you hypocrites and whores, with your eyes on each other and the locks upon your doors. Well you drowned me in the fountain of life and I hated you for living while I was dying, but we were all just passing through. Well, I'm going down, three cheers for Doctor Bogenbroom. Well, I'm on my way, three cheers for Doctor Bogenbroom."
I <gulp> abandoned my LITP LP I bought in 1973 to a storage company 36 years later (in 2009) when I was downsized and couldn't pay the fees. (Oh, for a welding torch...).

@ Corner Of The Sphere AND maddogfagin - Thank you so much for taking the time to answer. Well, I was wrong on both accounts:
"Lawman" - I thought of that as an American phrase (e.g., Old West Westerns, sheriffs/marshalls and FBI); that it was unlikely used in the UK as much (Google "lawman UK" for example).
"Pill" - Well, it certainly makes a LOT more sense for a Dr. to pass a pill than a kill. I thought JT/IA had purposely put a twist on "pill" to "kill", and because it sounds so much that way to me.
Feel much better getting the info from excellent references.
