Well, I did intend to provide a more in-depth review, but a rather excellent post-gig Chicken Badani plus several beers has taken its toll, so all I can say is: Superb gig, much much better than I had anticipated given some recent reviews. The sound quality was spot on, apart from one point when there was a bit of crackle from the Accordion (dodgy connection by the sound of it) but otherwise as good as I've ever heard them. Admittedly IA's voice is not what it used to be and he has to phrase a lot of the lyrics slightly differently these days, but I found I got used to this after a short while; Martin was up to his usual standard, and Doane Perry's drumming seems to be better than ever. John O'Hara seems a worthy enough replacement for Andy Giddings, but I'm not absolutely 100% sure about David Goodier though - unless he was having an "off" day, his playing seemed to be perhaps a little too clinical and reserved; certainly not incompetent, but to me Tull have always had a history of outstanding bass players, up to and including Peggy - not the easiest of boots to fill, admittedly - on the whole, though, a very good gig indeed. This was my first indoor Tull gig since 1992 (it's a long story), and I can safely say that my fears that time would not have been kind to them have been well and truly laid to rest. Come back soon, lads, and preferably with a new album to promote next time......

Setlist was as follows (order may not be 100% as I'm doing this purely from memory, but here goes): Dun Ringill (complete with storm sound effects and spoken intro by IA) The Water Carrier Life Is A Long Song Eurology Nothing Is Easy A New Day Yesterday Tea With The Princess (with vocals) Songs From The Wood (IA fluffed the lyrics at one point ) Fat Man (Never liked this song at all before, but actually quite enjoyed it this time - nice to see Martin playing a bit of flute) Bouree A Change of Horses Bug Budapest Aqualung Locomotive Breath (Encore)

Interesting that Tea With The Princess is now back with the lyrics. If we ever get some sort of new material issued it will be interesting to hear what version is used, if any. An instant rarity if either one is issued over the other?

I also enjoyed Sheffield. It was for me almost on a par with Liverpool....but out of the three shows I saw... Liverpool gets the nod probably due to the intimate atmosphere and wonderful response of the audience.
I am really enthused by the two new songs . I prefer the instrumental version of Tea with the Princess. change of horses is just an epic track and in my view just the best thing Tull have done since 1995

We need a new Tull album. How can we get Mr Anderson to see reason and realise this? I don't want dribs and drabs as downloads - I want a circle of shimmering Tullness in a jewel case with pictures, a humourous joke in the credits & lyrics.

Sheffield was an awesome concert. I'd won a pair of tickets for this concert courtesy of Planet Rock, if anyone is wondering what the "guest list" is then i can tell you that it just means tickets to get into the gig, it does not include backstage passes. I was sat on row F in the stalls which in my opinion is pretty good for free tickets. Saori Jo played an excellent cover of Witches Promise in her set which went down really well with the audience. Tull were on top form and the sound quality was absolutely amazing. I think that Liverpool was the best gig out of the three that i went to but then Sheffield was really good too. My dad coincidentally parked next to the stage door where Martin Barre had parked his car. After the gig we waited to see if any of the band would come out. I first spotted Martin so went to see him and get his autograph and a photo, i then asked him if there was any chance of Ian coming out and he said "he's over there", and to my amazement he was! The proof is below:

I'd take dribs and drabs downloads over nothing at all. This is what I hope will happen. Ian will releases 2 or 3 new songs as download product. They will sell quite well. Ian will have dollar signs in his eyes and realise he's on to a good thing and release more new material as downloads. Then perhaps, after 10-15 tracks he'll combine those tracks into an album just for you. I like albums but I like new music more.

Sheffield was an awesome concert. I'd won a pair of tickets for this concert courtesy of Planet Rock, Congratulations on winning tickets. I was starting to wonder if anybody actually won on Planet Rock! Col and I have entered tons of their comps and nada! Row F is pretty good too. Sounds like a good night all round, and lovely photos with Ian and Martin.

I hope Nike is paying the great marathon runner to wear their gear....less scandal potential than Tiger Woods!
