Radio Caroline in the North Sea played Tull a lot in the 80's. Played entire albums when the sea was rough

Apart from Planet Rock DAB you don’t get to hear much Jethro Tull on the radio in the UK these days. The BBC is known to have music documentaries on Radio 2 ever so often and BBC 6 Music DAB also features archive live recording usually around 3 in the morning.
There used to be a BBC local station in London called GLR (Greater London Radio) which played Tull every now and again. It was probably one of the better BBC stations and had a very eclectic play list and played all genres of music, from classical to prog rock. Many national broadcasters heard in Britain were on GLR including Chris Evans, Danny Baker, Tommy Vance, Johnnie Walker and Gideon Coe to name a few. Sadly GLR was replaced by the BBC and is now called London Live (I think) and is a shadow of its former self.

Stuart Maconie and Mark Radcliffe opened their Radio Two show on 17th December with Ring Out Solstice Bells, saying what a brilliant Christmas tune it was....after it played, they discussed how much money Ian would be making out of sales of smoked salmon over the festive season (has he still got interests or have they like Strathaird, been divested) but then Mr Maconie went on to say that Fires at Midnight was one of his favourite songs.
Danny Baker played chunks of Thick as a Brick years ago on his old "Radio Five" breakfast show, before that station morphed into Five Live

I know that he had several Tull albums in his personal record collection, which was huge. In recent years he has moved back towards the prog bands we grew up with. There was an article a few years ago in Q magazine, I think, where he was talking about his record collection and it had a picture of him rooting around his loft looking for albums and TaaB was prominantly displayed in the picture.
