I just noticed that John Died 30 years ago last Tuesday (17th Nov). I think he was fantastic and brought so much to the band. Rest easy John, we will remember you.

hi, according to geneology.com he died 27th nov 1979, from endocarditis tooth abscess, had heart surgery to try and correct it but sadly died. he was a brill bassist specially on heavy horses. personally i think he was under rated at the time but he will allways be remembered by tull fans. RIP.

You could be right about the date, I was browsing wiki and noticed it was 30 years this November. Wiki can be unreliable. Can anyone confirm?
Speaking of wiki, I notice quite a lot of Tull members pages lack information. Maybe we could all get together on these forums and aim to improve the Wiki pages.

RIP. Listening to his input to the Tull sound during his time with the band, it never fails to amaze me how natural his playing was. After JHH left, John just settled into the group line up with no fuss or bother and played IA's music as if he'd been there since 1969. In case you haven't done so, check out John's work with his previous bands such as Carmen and The Gods. Interesting and original music, especially Carmen, and you also have to wonder why new bands today don't seem have the spirit of musical adventure anymore. I mean, rock and flamenco mixed
