Hello!
Beware, you all naive old people like me! Profiles of false young sexy girls admirers of yours were not sufficient to cheat you and steal your personal data or money? They may now try with your favourite celebrity! And, guess who have they tried with, in my case? Yes, you got it! Ian Anderson!
Yesterday on instagram I was contacted by this profile: emilie_musici_
The same profile started following me a few days ago and I found nothing suspect at a first sight, it seemed just another Jethro Tull fan, probably attracted by some posts of mine about concerts and records, so I followed back this woman. But then, yesterday, she wrote a message to me:
Hello, You have added such a wonderful and lovely impact on Mr Ian Anderson music career with your comments and love. We appreciate your unwavering support and good wishes and you know your comments hadn't gone unnoticed
Mr Jethro would want you to write him in person, thank you. I'm Emilie Edward and I happened to be his personal manager .
best regards.
Hey! This was very fullfilling for me! Mr. IA in person probably had noticed my fantastic JT video animations on youtube (even if Emilie did not cite this) or my drawings (but Emilie did not cite this explicitedly) or my book review on the blog (Emilie did not cite this neither).
So I chatted with Emilie and she told me Ian in person wanted me to send him a message so he could chat with me on google chat (with, with a lot of enthusiasm, I immediately installed on my phone following her link) then she gave me Ian's personal google chat address!
At that point I finally started one of my surviving neurons, and started awakening a little bit: the address name was so incredibly vague and general (something like "bandmusicentertainement" or similar, I can't tell it becouse they somehow cancelled it from the chat soon after) and Emilie comments were so general and vague: she apparently was talking about my activity on instagram, not about my artistic activity nor my long activity as a fan since 1982! Why IA should contact a fan to thank him? For writing a couple of posts or comments on Instagram??
So I checked better Emilie's profile: active since 1 month ago only, it had JT publicity and personal photos, nothing precise, no precise statements, and link in the bio which was a void link! For being more sure, I even wrote to Jo Parrish James which I follow on instagram, and he kindly responded me almost immediately, and confirmed me that it is certainly fraud (he probably also had some laugh at my credulity).
So I reported Emilie's profile and blocked them. I also start wondering if the link she gave me to install google chat had any malicious addition, which apparently did not (I did a first check of my telephone, and also deleted google chat)... The link is the following:
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.dynamite
Maybe some of you readers have better knowledge about google apps and can tell me if in the end I survided with no damage, or if I should throw the phone away to be safe... In any case, beware, expecially if you are an old grumpy boomer like me who for some reasons tries to stay in instagram
