Jethro Tull – The Prog Years ROCKS REYKJAVIK ICELAND Thursday 4. May - 20:00 SOLD OUT LINK Jethro Tull still reigns as one of the most influential and popular bands of progressive rock history. So far, the band has played over 3,000 shows to date and sold over 60 million albums. Some of these albums have truly left a permanent mark in people’s minds, such as Aqualung and Thick as a Brick.
Last time they sold out within 15 minutes Iceland always welcomes Jethro Tull in full force. Band founder and leader, Ian Anderson, has never shied away from the fact that the whole band always feels at ease visiting, be it on stage or touring the country. So far, every show Jethro Tull played in Iceland has sold out. When the band visited last, in 2016, it only took 15 minutes to sell out every seat to the unique Jethro Tull show at the Hallgrimskirkja church in Reykjavik, just before Christmas that year.
Progressive Rock and Roll in Epic Proportions The Jethro Tull show in Iceland next spring is the 13 th show for the band in Iceland. What guests can expect is a mix of brand-new material woven into some of the most progressive pieces from the band’s history, along with some iconic numbers dotting the timeline. The band continues to show that they are still not too old to rock and roll just yet, and they believe that the fans are still roaring to go as ever. Promoter Birgir Daníel

Images and words by Birgir Daniel Birgisson Alone in the silence, the echoes fade away The crowds have dispersed, the night turned to day The stage that once throbbed with sound and light Now lies quiet, a relic of last night's fight The thrill of the show, the rush of the crowd The buzz of excitement, the applause so loud All gone in an instant, as the night drew to a close Leaving behind a feeling of emptiness, nobody knows The memories remain, a snapshot in time Of a moment so fleeting, so sublime A night of passion, of music and art A masterpiece crafted with a beating heart. Thank you

We got stuck in the mud on the way in and out and the same big tractor pulled us out. The problem was the heavy (heavy) rain on Thursday night & I think they moved things around. The area to the right of the stage on tent 1 was a complete bog and mud was deep enough to come inside boot (as I found out). I've just had a thought. We should have known we'd both need a tractor to pull us out as Tull played Heavy Horses earlier with the line, "The tractor's on its way."

Donosti, 11-5-2023 by Albert Villanueva Three months away from turning 76, Ian Anderson is in full envious form. Here's "Locomotive breath", the encore from the concert last May 11 in Donosti. Jethro Tull still sounds powerful and compact.

Image by Mark Taylor I earned my crust last night by handing out flyers to promote the rather spiffing special edition of Record Collector Presents Jethro Tull. A pleasant experience it was too as Tull fans seemed genuinely thrilled to see their favourite band being given the passionate treatment in print as I showed them the first copy hot off the press. Jethro Tull themselves were in town for a one-off gig, delighted fans with two sets that included two well received tracks from the new album RökFlöte along with nifty versions of fan favourites Heavy Horses, Aqualung and a steam rolling Locomotive Breath. Record Collector Presents Jethro Tull will be available in WHSmiths and all other good stockists tomorrow on May25th.

Shepherd’s Bush May 23rd 2023
A Great show last night at Shepherd’s Bush! That has to be one of the best Tull shows I've been to in a long time! Ian was in very good voice! With classics like For A Thousand Mothers and We Used to Know to start off the show! Some very tongue in cheek hotel "California" type neon signs in the background video on We used to know and a little joke from Ian about Ed Eheeran before hand 😂
Both Warm Sporran and Dark ages were a great surprise and both excellent and all levels. Hammer on hammer plus The Navigators were also played and good to hear. Mrs Tibbets Little Boy was done well with a excellent but dark video in the background. The Zealot Gene was great and Ian was hitting those high notes. Holly Herald was a bit of an odd one to play but done well as normal .
Aqualung and Loco to finish off as normal Good to see Martin Webb there, Pat Rowbottom (Coldflame) who travelled with us from Oxford. Not to forget Sue Lewis 😉
Everyone was allow to take photos and video during Loco which was good and an idea I think came from the UK Christmas shows over the last few years.

Those photos are absolutely brilliant Ash plus an excellent review I'm so glad you enjoyed the show and it's good to hear Ian was in "very good voice", I thought the same when I saw Tull at the Kin Festival, it sounds like the fact he's been resting hls voice has certainly paid off.

I thought at £8.95 it was a little bit pricey, but I have to say it looks to be worth every penny. My Bank Holiday week-end reading is sorted!
