www.morgenpost.de/kultur/article208750341/Ian-Anderson-spielt-Jethro-Tulls-Werk-als-Rock-Musical.html[ Eine schöne Übersetzung von Google] CULTURE Ian Anderson plays Jethro Tull's work as a rock musicalMultimedial spectacle in the sold out admiral palace By Peter E. Müller 19.11.2016, 03:01 The Scottish singer, musician and composer Ian Anderson is not one who simply stands still and rests on the merits of the past. And, of course, although he continues to manage his musical heritage, which he has accumulated in almost 50 years. With his band Jethro Tull, Anderson has written rock music history. In 2012, after 45 years, Anderson released Jethro Tull. Since then, he has always devoted himself to new projects. Jethro Tull, the rock opera performed by Ian Anderson, is the latest, and this may sound confusing for some fans. And, as you could see in the sold-out Admirals Palace on Thursday evening, is actually a kind of opera, a multimedial rock musical with arias and recitatives, with the true Jethro Tull, the name given to the band. Anderson's "Rock Opera" is a homage to Jethro Tull (1674-1741), the English father of agricultural sciences, who had introduced such revolutionary ideas as the first mechanical seed drill or a picket picked by a horse for weeding into agriculture. He tells Tulls life, however, in a highly modern way and lets the life story play in a near future. Anderson brings issues such as overpopulation, climate change and genetic engineering into play. And for the music, he uses early parts of his band, which fit perfectly into the musical biography of the agricultural scientist. Of course, you could just see this as a resourceful trick to go on a tour with a "Best of" program and not to call it the "Best of" program. The band plays together with the singers on the screenBut this show is more, is a multimedial revue whose technical perfection and musical accuracy always amazes. A huge screen is an integral part. The actor and singer Ryan O'Donnell plays and sings the title heroes. But he just appears on the screen. Like the Icelandic singer and violinist Unnur Birna Björnsdottir and other virtual guests. Ian Anderson and his band are standing in front of the screen. They are playing and singing together with the projection. It is almost uncanny how synchronous the song from the screen to the live music plays fits. Anderson has composed some new songs for the play, but uses mostly classic Jethro Tull, which fit perfectly to the not always understandable story. The 69-year-old dominates his flute furios. His voice, however, has suffered over the years and so he shares with O'Donnell on the screen the vocal parts, such as "Aqualung" or "Locomotive Breath". An ambitious show that combines the latest technology with first class musicians. An imposing evening.

primavera24.de/morgen-in-der-alten-oper-in-frankfurt-jethro-tull-performed-by-ian-anderson/Tomorrow in the Old Opera House in Frankfurt: Jethro Tull - performed by Ian Anderson20/11/2016 FRANKFURT . In November, the stage spectacle "Jethro Tull - performed by Ian Anderson" will be shown for the first time in Germany. This is a multimedia production, similar to a theater. Music and text presents the legendary Prog / Folkrockformation live. A high-tech biochemist who wants to solve the nutrition problem of a rapidly growing world population by cloning plants is told. Experience the spectacle live: tomorrow, on 21 November, at 8 pm in the Alte Oper in Frankfurt! The main character is (Henry) Jethro (William) Tull. According to the English pioneer of agricultural sciences (1674-1741) the British band called themselves. His story, transmitted in the near future, is musically illustrated by Tull songs. "To 85 percent, we play classic from our catalog (from 'Living In The Past' and 'Witch's Promise', 'Aqualung' and 'Locomotive Breath' to 'Songs From The Wood' or 'Heavy Horses') Modified, but in arrangements as the songs were originally recorded, "Ian Anderson reveals. "There are five new compositions for this." The composer / acoustic guitarist / vocalist, who performed in the previous year's 50th jubilee of his group, has a proven track record with bassoonist David Goodier, keyboardist John O'Hara, vocalist Ryan O'Donnell, drummer Scott Hammond and the German guitarist Florian Opahle. Among them are the project Unnur Birna Björnsdóttir (vocals, violin), and Greig Robinson (bass). The founder and head of Jethro Tull is still one of the greats from the early years of rock. His legendary Flötenspiel, standing on one leg, he also celebrated on the Saturday evening, but only sporadically. Understandable at 69 years. www.gn-online.de/nachrichten/verhaltener-applaus-fuer-rock-opera-jethro-tull-173828.html22.11.2016, 04:00 hours Behavioral applause for "Rock Opera Jethro Tull"As a mage on the flute Ian Anderson appeared on the stage of Arena Emsland in Lingen. Photo: Johannes FrankeBy Werner Straukamp In the end, there was only restrained applause for Ian Anderson. His "Rock Opera Jethro Tull" triggered contradictory reactions in the Emslandarena in Lingen. Lingen. Was announced the "Rock Opera Jethro Tull" as a stage spectacle, a live multimedia production listed. Ian Anderson, the mastermind of the legendary Rockformation Jethro Tull, wanted to tell the story of a high-tech biochemist who wants to solve the nutritional problem of a rapidly growing world population by cloning plants. His name: Jethro (William) Tull. A recourse to the person of the English pioneer of the agricultural sciences, who lived in the early 18th century, after the band once called themselves. Since this story, illustrated with five new Jethro Tull songs, had hardly lured several thousand listeners into the Lingener Emslandarena, Anderson enriched the program of the evening with several hits and classics from the extensive song catalog of the band Jethro Tull. Including melodic folk-rock like "Songs From The Wood" and "Weathercock", in which he sang the British park landscape and their rural traditions, and the "Farm On The Freeway", which deplored the destruction of rural life. There are also songs from the success stories "Stand Up" from 1969 and the 1971 "Aqualung" as well as early single releases such as "Living In The Past" and "Witch's Promise", which have nothing to do with the actual theme , But undoubtedly unfold their effect as a "crowd paser". The multimedia spectacle emerges as a stage projection on oversized screen projected, elaborately produced two-hour film, which is a wonderful mixture of landscape and urban imprints, play and documentary scenes. The main characters of the film are the virtually occuring rock and folk singer Ryan O 'Donnell and the Icelandic artist Unnur Birna Björnsdóttir, who is recalled in the film to the singing of London's Sixties icon Julie Driscoll. As known from silent movie times, the Jethro Tull Band, acting on the stage, plays live the soundtrack to the film. What is so lost despite the electrifying flute recital by Ian Anderson and some gripping hard rock guitarist Florian Opahle, the rock concert is a musical expressivity, spontaneity, dynamism and interaction between the band and the audience. Instead, Anderson and his musicians move in a sequence of the timed corset, which seems compelling, as many songs are alternated between the playbacks played by the film-goers and the live vocals of Ian Anderson. Why O'Donnell and Björnsdottir did not appear live on the stage remains the secret of 69-year-old Anderson, who, as is well known, has had problems with his voice for many years. So the conclusion of the "Rock Opera" with the still sweeping "Locomotive Breath" aroused rather the longing memories of many listeners to earlier live concerts in which Jethro Tull and their audience stormed the Rockhimmel. In conclusion, the refrain from one of their unforgettable early rock singles comes to mind: "It was a new day yesterday."

www.fr-online.de/musik/jethro-tull-alte-oper-immer-noch-ein-rattenfaenger,1473348,34956936.html 22 NOVEMBER 2016 JETHRO TULL ALTE OPER Still a Pied Piper From STEFAN MICHALZIK Ian Anderson, Jethro Tull's omnipresent flute player. Photo: REUTERSJethro Tull irritates at the Old Opera House in Frankfurt. Only the flute play of Ian Anderson is as powerful as ever. One of the old hit numbers of Jethro Tull does not lead Ian Anderson in his current program: "Too Old to Rock, n 'Roll: Too Young to Die!" Now it makes no sense to scoff at the aging. It is true, however, that this evening has nothing in common with rock'n'roll in a metaphorical sense. For that, the musical performance alone was much too clinically pure. With the departure of the guitarist Martin Barre, alongside Anderson, the only remaining member from the classical phase in the seventies, Jethro Tull disbanded four years ago. Since then, Anderson has been traveling under his own name, now he has performed at the Frankfurt Old Opera House Signum "Jethro Tull - The Rock Opera". In 1993, the 69-year-old Briton first spoke publicly about the blatant problems with his voice. The unskilled singer is now only croaking a few lines of his songs, his head stretching to the top, where the miserably miserably thin voice should do. The major part of the song is played by the actor and singer Ryan O'Donnell and the singer and violinist Unnur Birna Björnsdóttir. They are also the main actors in the Dauervideo, which can be seen behind the musicians - both remain pale. The multimedial concept, with a few roll-players singing on the screen, translates the historical Jethro-Tull figure of the eighteenth-century agricultural pioneer into the era of bioenergy and gene technology, climate change and overpopulation. Anderson has written five new songs, all of them in the old-established Jethro-Tull sound. In addition, he and the band classics from the early days flatten. Only the omnipresent Flötenspiel of Andersons - still regularly angled the left leg after the Pierenfanger type and he puts a dance-in-place from time to time - is still as powerful as once. Friendly, but reserved is the applause of the predominantly olding sworn followers. If Ian Anderson wants to make money with his musical past, he should at least bring a decent show with vital, seriously acclaimed musicians and a singer of his own stature on stage (and restrict himself entirely to the flute play). Every half-original tribute-band brings about something like that. With such a one would have been better served.

www.fnp.de/nachrichten/kultur/Jethro-Tull-Manchmal-geht-der-Lokomotive-die-Puste-aus;art679,2334174 Alte Oper Frankfurt "Jethro Tull": Sometimes the locomotive goes out of steamNovember 23, 2016 BY JOACHIM SCHREINER "Jethro Tull - Performed By Ian Anderson": In the Old Opera House there was Flötentöne, songs from the forest and of course "Locomotive Breath". Vocally no longer at the height: Ian Anderson (69) of "Jethro Tull".Frankfurt. Making a virtue of necessity: this has always been a good piece of advice to compensate for artistic malaise. In the case of 69-year-old Ian Anderson, the problem has been the voice for years. It just does not stop anymore, breaks in the heights. The pale goes almost twice the bald man in two hours. For this reason, he has immediately joined two singing assistants who support him. The 40-year-old "Tull" sold the bandleader as a concept show, as a rock opera, but it is more likely to be an operetta. Each of the 20 songs is not only illustrated by pictures of English fields, idyllic forest landscapes or scenes from the biology laboratory; no, his co-singers, including band bassist David Goodier and keyboarder John O'Hara, act as a musical actor, guided by agriculture To high-tech industry, fast highways and endless rail networks. The show goes in the truest sense of the word as in a flight, with the fan delighted over long, no longer beloved Preziosen from the archive. This was different in the Old Opera House, when Anderson almost presented his mediocre record "Homo Erraticus" almost completely. "Living In The Past," "Witche's Promises," "Cheap Day Return," and the brilliant "A New Day Yesterday" blues number, are a bit harder at the "Jethro Tull Opera," as the interlude and final curtain suggest Such as "Farm On The Freeway", "Songs From the Wood" and "Heavy Horses". The heavy horses pull the plow through fertile ground and point out that "Tull" was once deeply rooted in the English Folkore. This is the match for the beautiful modulation-rich voice of Unnur Birna Björnsdóttir, who, like her colleague Ryan O'Donnell, supports both tortured and singing in the videos as well as live on the stage. Even if a lot of new pieces were not quite convincing: the sound of the band was right, the German guitarist Florian Opahle did everything possible to shed the absence of Sir Martin Barre. Of course, before the final, "Locomotive Breath" steamed, but then "Requiem" and the adaptation of Bach's famous Bourée made a quiet counterpoint. Too bad that the evening ended like in the cinema: the guy with the name of the collaborating technicians and back men, but no more encore. Ian Anderson had obviously meticulously divided every breath.

When I hear Ian Anderson sing it gives me more joy than anything else I've heard since 1973... FACT If "Homo Erraticus" was 'mediocre', then give me more 'mediocre' next year. I'll be first in line.

It hurts horribly if a living legend itself works to disassemble its reputation. Even more, if she knows it - and still does. But the fact is: Ian Anderson , founder, head and incarnation of the cult band Jethro Tull has lost his voice and can not sing. It just does not work anymore. He himself is aware of this - but makes it anyway. And this, as I said, hurts - even if he does everything else on the stage and always finds ways and means and even finds, so as to overcome this shortcoming if at least not, then at least. The latest means is, lo and behold, Jethro Tull . No, this does not the band meant, but rather their namesake : The same British agriculture . -Pionier Who lived in the 18th century Ian Anderson wrote a rock opera, which he has named after him in but who surprised's less Tull scientists as Tull , the band and their music is the focus. This fulfilled alone " Jethro Tull - the musical" all the prerequisites to become a hit. Finally, appropriate other musicals such as queen or have Abba the potential long proven that lies in such projects. And Tull , the Musical, would per se certainly a success - if Mr. Anderson had not determined largely self with his new band not only perform it, but again and again to sing himself. However, since it several passages of his own songs really can not cope, he has vocal brought help - and then comes not live from the stage, but from the off . Technically it works even excellent: Behind the band a giant screen is constructed from the lower two singers and a singer to hear and also accurately be seen - then again duets with Ian Anderson sing. An absolute choreographic masterpiece, on the one hand. On the other hand, it's just purely technical and blaspheme the largely miss what rock fans " Feeling " call - and what is essential for a real rock concert. Nevertheless, it is not really bad at this musical. Again and again flare up and live moments that bear witness to the absolute genius of what Ian Anderson with Jethro Tull has created over now for almost five decades. And then the fans crave the rose garden of course: That you can clearly see when the first hardly existing mood then it makes its way into foot-stomping , sing along or swing with . And in the end even in rich applause at the gems as " Aqualung " to which one a wonderful movies from the young Ian Anderson sees the then absolutely perfect embodied this cult figure, or " Locomotive Breath ", which remains as correct steam hammers Come As evident as well that the new band the old Jethro - Tull -Musikern absolutely not inferior: The guys have what it takes and fun. And then there's the icing on the cake, an at least partially reconciled with the vocal shortcomings: Ian Anderson's flute playing is beyond any criticism and even better than it ever was - if that is at all possible. So, all those who have persevered until the addition, then rewarded with the absolute highlight of the evening: The Master actually plays again the ridiculously beautiful " Bouree ". And suddenly it is then yes but since, this unique Jethro - Tull - Feeling . But this work will be played again so has the way to the end Rosengarten worth.

I'm hesitant to believe one-off alarmist reviews putting down "the voice", when such comments are seemingly very sporadic and we all know the history of "the voice" having overcome to a large degree the troubles of long ago. I do wonder if constant travel and touring can diminish the performance ability of the voice. I'm a big fan of getting lots of hydration and potassium as voice support. I read quite some time ago that potassium deficiency can easily cause a degree of voice trouble (voice therapy data, rather than singing voice data), and of course, experimenting in the opposite direction, drinking lots of low-sodium veggie juice with very high potassium in it gives a real alertness kick and helps the voice, nerves and muscles. I've done enough traveling to know it can be dehydrating.

Concert · Like a nightingale, Ian Anderson has never sang. But on his new tour, the flute-rocker struggles with his voice. In the Big Box Allgäu in Kempten, 1,800 spectators took a closer look at the intricate sound of the English progressive band Jethro Tull.
