1. WYTTHM - 14 2. APP - 12 3. The Clasp - 14 4. Pibroch - 12 5. Dot Com - 0 The Clasp is a great intro as it sets the course for the whole experience. Again if the song is taken literally and the music has to be set at that angle even if the song is not about ships, the beat at the very start suggests the steady movement of rowing as they sail through a narrow river or channel. The image is of many beautiful, elegant and menacing Longships with their high curved bows and dragon figureheads passing each other both en route and returning home from their many exploits. When the flute bit comes in the music changes to a more vigorous pace suggesting the approaching passing point. Well it does to me The intro flows perfectly and seamlessly into; "We travellers on the endless wastes in single orbits, gliding cold-eyed march towards the dawn behind hard-weather hoods a-hiding. Meeting as the tall ships do, passing in the channel afraid to chance a gentle touch --- afraid to make the clasp."Dot Com is no more - next to go APP? Bernie is on his Hols and the Duck... well maybe he's going off APP? i44.images obliterated by tinypic/2rr5o4i.gif[/IMG]

This is the perfect description of the imagery that the incredible Clasp intro evokes for me. Still gotta vote for WYTTHM though. 1. WYTTHM - 15 2. APP - 13 3. The Clasp - 13 4. Pibroch - 11 5. 1. WYTTHM - 18 2. APP - 15 3. The Clasp - 14 4. Pibroch - 5 Bernie's not here Can't let The Clasp lose out like that Seeing as Bernie's enjoying the sights and sounds of Europe and hobnobbing with Tull friendly people I'll cast a proxy vote on his behalf for APP seeing as Pibroch is last on the list with a paltry 5 (now 4) WYTTHM - 18 2. APP - 16 3. The Clasp - 14 4. Pibroch - 4 Oh bu99er

The clock struck summertime. You were going round in circles now. Wishing you were seventeen. At twenty-one, it was a long time gone.
And now here you are. You're locked in your own excuse. The circle's getting smaller every day.

The European sun has had an effect on him - he's gone off APP ...............
My tactic is now to get The Clasp a healthy second position.

The list grows. Cross-Eyed Mary for sure. Talk about building energy! That song is one of Tull's all-time peaks.

No way!!! (I'm not shouting - it's not caps) No way is APP the very best intro to a Tull song. It's good but it's not as good as WYTTHM. WYT... is the calling card intro to Tull and deserves the title for that alone. APP is the reminder that you got here. I've never came across anyone who didn't like WYT.. came across a few who didn't like APP. Good suggestions as to other choices - do you want another poll? where were you when we were looking for them at the start? (still not mad)

WYT... is the calling card intro to Tull and deserves the title for that alone. Indeed! Such strange occurrences lately... First, Tull loses to T-Rex; then, WYTTHM falls short in a Best Intro poll. Though I must admit to liking APP's opening too. Incidentally, while I know it's not a proper/distinctive intro, I love how Cup of Wonder commences. There's something pleasantly nostalgia-inducing about it. I always find myself in a good mood, even if only temporarily, when that song starts off.
