::)After the vibrant Jones Beach and Mohegan Sun shows last wkend., my faith is re-newed. The band were more musically tight as ever,Martin and Doane were sharp and Ian had an energy I thought was long gone and played flute and acoustic and harp and the beloved claghorn beautifully.
Yeah, his vocals are still $h1tty, but less $h1tty than recent years. I don't know if taking a long break from touring (resting his voice) will make it stronger, but if it will........then, Mr. Anderson....
Please, 1. Take at least a year (preferably 2 yrs) off
2.
Record a new, dynamic Tull album
You blew away 20,000 people at Jones last Saturday, so anything is possible!
Am I just dreaming, fellow Tull-ites, about something taht aint gonna happen? sigh............

Am I just dreaming, fellow Tull-ites, about something taht aint gonna happen? sigh............ I thought his vocals started off shaky, but not horrible, at Jones Beach. Basically, he carried it off and there were no songs where I cringed. And it just seemed that his singing improved as the night went on, especially on heavy horses. I know it's all relative, but I think he sang very well compared to the last three or four years and possibly compared even to the last 15 years when the incessant touring began. You are probably right that a break from touring would help his voice recover from all those shows. And a new album seems certain from the strong hint in the tour program (the discography has a blank square for the new album "somtime in 2008....please Ian"). Jeff

And if there is will it be crushed under a weight of expectation that it could not possibly live up to? Weigh that against the current nostalgia boom that all the old rock bands seem to be doing good business from and my guess would be next year the tour goes on...and on! But hey...it's a good show right? And of course if IA does decide he's got a another solid Tull album in him then so much the better.
