Does anyone have any info about a band that supported JT back in 1968 called Dynaflow Blues Band? John Hi John - welcome to the Jethro Tull Form. There's not much on the web about the Dynaflow Blues Band but they seem to have been one of those bands with an ever revolving door of personnel, some of which went onto "better" things. At the official Foghat site www.foghat.com/press/press_price_exit.php it says "Taking it easy may be something [Rod] Price needs as much as wants; he's rarely been able to relax during his long stint with Foghat. The former Londoner had had a taste of the rigors of the road when he played with Black Cat Bones, Dynaflow Blues Band and Shakey Vick's Big City Blues, but none of them could match Foghat for sheer intensity of pace. "and at www.fridhammar.com/xshakeyvi.html there's mention of the band and three of the musicians "Shakey Vick's Big City Blues Band was a bit of a 'purist' blues band, considering the competition. Formed in the summer of '66 and played its last gig with the following lineup on April 7 '68: Shakey Vick: harmonica, vocals Rod Price: guitar (to Dynaflow Blues and Foghat) Ron Skinner: bass, vocals (to Dynaflow Blues and The Nighthawks) Mel Wright: drums (to Dynaflow Blues and The Nighthawks)"Music "archeology" is a fascinating subject and it's interesting to note that another one of the bands that performed with Jethro Tull in the early years is also mentioned above - Black Cat Bones. Enjoy having a good look around the place as there are some very interesting and varied subjects on offer and I look forward to reading anything else you may find out about the Dynaflow Blues Band MD

Many thanks MD - yes, I had found a number of references on the net, and had got those names, but I believe there was one more member possibly called John Blumire. I'm hoping that someone somewhere might just have an old recording of the band...... John

There doesn't seem to be a discography, even if they made any records, or concert listings for them on the web. What we really need is one of those rock family trees to see all the comings and goings centred around the band.
I'm not sure if we ever saw them in concert back in '68 or so but if they were one of the succession of support bands around at that time then it would be a good chance that we did especially if they played at the Star or the Greyhound in Croydon.

Hello, after the band left Shakey Vick in order to create the Dynaflow Blues band, my dad, Chris Elvin joined the band playing harps for one year (68-69). He passed away years ago. I'd be glad to hear a recording of the band if someone, one day, sees that message and has one. I can send photos of the Dynaflow to anyone that will ask me, unfortunately I don't have any of them supporting Jethro Tull. Thanks if you can help me getting informations or even better, recordings ;-)

Off hand I can't think of any recordings of the band however some of our members may be able to help in your quest.

I have some more pics of the band (Chris Elvin is on the right and never wore shoes if he could avoid it). Jazz & Blues festival poster shows quite an impressive line-up

Thanks for posting the picture of the Dynaflow Blues Band - there seems to be very little about the band on the internet and any more would be appreciated here. I had a quick look around the web and found these sites about Shakey Vick which mention the DBB which may be of interest. www.burnsiderecords.com/rod_price.htmlwww.fridhammar.com/xshakeyvi.html
