A friend's family is sitting around the dinner table a couple years ago and the daughter asks; 'dad, what's kwaanza?' before the dad could even open his mouth, his wife scowls at him and says 'Fraaaaank'.....ah...married couples are a lovely phenomena....

Excuse me, but don't they call these kinds of weather activities: 'acts of God' ?

Ditto P's sentiments on you Bernie. Have to disagree on Ian in a kilt, lord knows the man earned the right to wear one, not a mere adornment Scottish for a day type thing, it looks damn good on him, Sean Connery too. I see it says Aug 82 which is when I first went to Skye, taking the train from Inverness over there, or to Kyle of Lochalsh anyway, in those days u ferried to Skye, easily the most incredible train ride I ever have been on. While there the Royal Mail guy who delivered on Strathaird told me I missed him by a day but that he might be back. I do wonder to anyone else who was at the show in Leeds in Aug 82, I am certain my memory is correct, did not Ian initially come out in his kilt playing pipes before switching to his stage costume? I think for some presentation with the beer guy, the Old Peculier brand whatever it is, Theakston's that's it. Also it appears to me that the objectified of choice this time around appears to be immigrants, the Mexican's in particular, (immigrants in America, what a concept, and so many doing physical labor for jack at a pace that would embarrass the average overweight American) though doubtlessly time will also be made for Blacks, Jews, Liberals, Gays. Very unsettling reading the prologue of a 900 page book on Hitler recently, the stark paralells between the genesis of Nazi ideology, and what is going on RIGHT NOW. The tea party will play the part of the right thinking, back to basic common sense lie. People like Glenn Beck will play a fantastically similar role as began to prop up very gradually in the German media in the early thirties leading up to the Olympics in Berlin, when all signs of what was being done to the Jewish were briefly completely wiped away, and many people were led to believe this Hitler was someone who could be reasoned with. And there was mention of the watering down of free thinking media, probably jazz music, so similar to this American Idol type of tripe that is so popular, with so little music of substance given a front row seat in media, save for classical music, itself constituting probably half on one per cent of the audience. And American public school performance at what, like 32nd in the world now. Perfect pallette to paint a very gradually developing masterpiece of hate on, and people actually think it could never happen again. But Merry Christmas, yeah I suppose so, usually very happy with the day itself, but even that day , when one really considers the unspeakable misery so many people live in right here in America, I do know how badly that can get amped up on Christmas day. But love to all that is for certain.

Bernie - merry Christmas to you and your daughter from the maddog household. I would hope the six degrees of separation rule applies although who know who you may be linked with? Six degrees of separation (also referred to as the "Human Web") refers to the idea that everyone is on average approximately six steps away from any other person on Earth, so that a chain of, "a friend of a friend" statements can be made, on average, to connect any two people in six steps or fewer.

One thing is definite in this world in human terms is that events can (sneek up) repeat themselves.
I visited Dachau when I was a child and didn't understand but will never forget seeing children's belongings piled up. The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas - read in schools now over here - apart from the storyline and maybe forgiving a few inaccuracies the vision of hell through the eyes and understanding of a child is succinct innocent and questioning - wish we could keep it that way.
R sending you warm and happy wishes for Christmas and thank you for all you contribute to the Forum. You are one of the most knowledgeable and interesting posters not only in Tull but in other music - can't comment on the baseball means skiddley all to me ;D The only issue I have is that I would rather talk face to face than type huge replies to your great posts long may you continue to be part of this.

A Christmas greeting from Mick Abrahams
This year, as in previous years, we will be donating the money usually spent on cards to Willen Hospice in Milton Keynes.
We would like to wish all our dear friends a very happy Christmas and the very best for 2011.
Thank you for all your kind thoughts, wishes and prayers throughout this year.
We think of our friends often, even if we haven't kept in close touch, and of the great times we have shared together.
We look forward to happy times in the year to come,
with our love,
Mick and Kate

My best Christmases EVER...by a longshot, were 1980 and 1981 in Hamburg...Germans do Christmas right...family, friendship, warm feeling, good memories and nature helps them: snow, ice skating on frozen lakes and rivers with Gluhwein stands on the way...truly bliss...and as a Jew, i asked myself ( I was in my early 20's): How in the world could these people have produced a Hitler...or stood by while their leaders perpetrated genocide...these people who personfy loyalty, friendships for life, pride in their jobs and families and true charity? Well...then came reagan and BushI and BushII and Cheney and all the right wing pigs on the radio and guess what? I don't wonder anymore how it happened....now i know!

A Very Merry Christmas and Prosperous New Year to all! Hope, like me, you are all having a great day! I've had the ham (after boiling with onion, peppercorns and bay leaves) marinating in the fridge over night - soaked in quality dijon mustard, honey, sugar, cinnamon, peppercorns, quality dark soy sauce and all covered in cloves big-time! Not to mention the crown of turkey! Yum yum! Thanks so much to everyone here for this splendid Tull forum and all the warmth, friendship and entertainment throughout the year! Hey Patti, Did you see the re-make of 'Whistle and I'll Come To You' with John Hurt on BBC2 last night? If so, what did you think? I remember you posted the original with Michael Hordern around Halloween. Brian.

Christmas Greetings to you Brian Hope it all went well and the ham sounds delicious Missed "Whistle and I'll Come to You" would have liked to have seen Hurt. Diverse TV viewing at Xmas watched Toy Story3 and then a recent version of Hound of the Baskervilles - loved both ;D
