If they've got a FB page and they haven't set the message function to private then I don't see anything wrong with contacting them via FB and lets face it your not asking them their star sign or what's their fav pizza topping Kudos to Steven Wilson!!! WTF, that's the only thing I've ever wanted to know, is "does Mike Nelson get Sagittarius pineapple on his cosmic karma star-sign pie?" Now I feel like the Tullies just don't care any more. I care -I'm a gemini - I turn funny with the full moon and I like hickory steak topping on my pizza..... just saying.

We're now about 2 months away from the supposed release date, and still no pre-order info on amazon US or UK or info on Jethro Tull's webpage.
C'mon already! BRING IT ON!
This is probably the best year for SW remixes so far with ELP, Tarkus, Larks', and TAAB, compared to 2011 (Caravan, Starless & Bible Black, Discipline, and Aqualung), 2010 (Poseidon and Islands) and 2009 (Crimson King, Lizard, and Red)

www.amazon.co.uk/Thick-Brick-...6944091&sr=1-2Still no info on amazon US yet, but now all the amazon sites are listing this set as 3 discs. So what are the 3 discs? Here's my hope: CD: 2012 Remix with Bonus Tracks DVD-V: DTS 96/24 and Dullbe 5.1, 2012 Remix, Original 1972 mix, and Bonus Tracks (at PCM 96/24) Blu-Ray: Same content above but DTS-HD MA and LPCM 5.1 surround Here's how it will probably be laid out: CD1: 2012 Remix CD2: Bonus Tracks DVD-V: DTS 96/24 and Dullbe 5.1, 2012 Remix, Original 1972 mix, and Bonus Tracks (at PCM 96/24)

This new bit of information came from amazon.co.uk, and there's a few problems I have with it.
#1. It doesn't explain this
Now I understand amazon doesn't always post the correct number of discs for a release, but is it 3 or is it 2? Is there a Blu-Ray or this all we're getting? #2 (and more importantly), the only bonus material they could give us is a Radio Ad?! JTull completists will be happy to see that it looks like we get the new and original mix on the DVD, but the 5.1's not looking like high-res yet. I just pray if all we're getting is DVD that EMI at least have the courtesy to make the DTS mixes 96/24...

The bottom right hand section says: I'm intrigued by this 100 page book if we really are getting one. It'll probably include the original 16page newspaper as well as the March 2012 PROG magazine interview on TAAB. The Aqualung book also included text from the tour programme, yearly chronology, and interviews with the original recording engineer & SW, so it's possible that we could be getting similar material in this package. Maybe a moderator can expand on the packaging content included inside. So it seems like EMI are giving us super deluxe edition packaging without SDE quality audio. Now I can understand if there weren't any bonus tracks available for use, but I still cannot comprehend why EMI insist on giving us Audio DVDs instead of DVD-Audio or Blu-Ray! Now, as SW and others have said before, Blu-Ray is expensive to author, but there is NO good reason why they could not have given us DVD-A/V instead of just DVD-V. C'mon, if SONY can do it, why the hell can't EMI?!?!

I would guess, at this stage. that the book is going to be of a similar oresentation as the one for Aqualung which is one big reason for the high price of the vinyl edition of the release. Whether the CD version will have the same book is open to question at this time or even if one would be able to read the cd booklet. At the moment I'm thinking of just getting the CD release but, as has happened many times, we may find that the large version of the book which comes with the vinyl release will contain text and illustrations not available in the smaller CD version.

My guess is these pinheads at EMI were so worried about giving us great deluxe packaging (and I am actually really excited about the book) that they forgot to give us HIGH-RES DELUXE QUALITY 5.1 AUDIO!!!!
I mean honestly, how much more would it cost to have included Blu-Ray in the package? About $25 is my guess. I understand Blu-Ray is expensive to author and replicate, but yet the labels fail to understand the extra costs associated with DVD-Audio THAT DO NOT EXIST!!!
I will definitely be getting this release cause Brick is my favorite Tull album, and SW can do no wrong with his remixing. However, my excitement level has dropped quite considerably, and I'm very disappointed with EMI. The company that gave us great quality products on Blu-Ray last year have now sunk to a low yet again.
And don't even get me started if the DTS isn't 96/24!

I'm all Bricked out, to be honest. The only thing that interests me is the book, and like the Aqualung reissue, you probably have to buy the deluxe edition at over £80 a throw, so that's not happening. I gave up on vinyl years ago, I had all the original albums and they all got stolen when our house was burgled, and I have no desire to purchase new vinyl reissues, what's the point? you can buy all the original albums on vinyl from a record fair for about £15-20 each. And all these audiophiles moaning about their blu-ray/dvd whatever, it's all a load of nonsense, reminds me of the old Quadrophonic sound back in the day. Let's not kid ourselves, the album's gonna sound pretty much the same, (except we're all a bit deafer now than we used to be ) and, call me old fashioned, but I don't listen to albums on my t.v. It would be nice if the book was available seperately. Also, don't hate me for this, but I don't think Brick is one of Tull's better albums, give me Aqualung/Songs From The Wood/Heavy Horses any day.

I don't think I'll be splashing out £80 either (I didn't with the Aqualung anniversary release) I'm hoping they'll give us all a chance to buy the book separate but no doubt if they do it'll be expensive, even the 2 CD copy is going to be £20.

Bet they don't issue the book separately. I'd buy the box set if I had a decent sound system. At present the super duper de-luxe issue would cost more than my sound system. I would like to be more techy and I read about the latest speakers etc and if the cash flowed in I would buy a state of the art system. Sound engineer, producer and multi millionaire Jeremy Kipnis has this home entertainment; i50.images obliterated by tinypic/11i1kcx.jpg[/IMG] techy details here most-expensive.net/luxury-home-entertainment-centerprice from $6000000 but it would keep the kids happy but think of the dusting. Did we ask Steven Wilson what he has?

I've just been on the blower to Steven and this is what he says "It’s not how luxurious your room is, how good your speakers are or the quality of the acoustic space,”....It’s how well you know what you’re hearing, because if you know what you’re hearing, you can make good-sounding records! Many times I’ve made the mistake of thinking that if I went into a commercial studio with a proper desk and speaker system I would get better results, but I got worse because I had no idea what I was hearing, so I always retreated back to my little box room where I knew exactly how to get results. Anything sounds good in a big studio but the trick is to make it sound good on a $h1tty system in a $h1tty room, because that is closer to the way everyone else is going to hear it. If you can do that it will sound good on any system..." www.soundonsound.com/sos/jun10/articles/porcupinetree.htm

Jethro Tull Plan 40th Anniversary ‘Thick as a Brick’ Reissue by: Jeff Giles ultimateclassicrock.com/jethro-tull-thick-as-a-brick-40th-anniversary/Jethro Tull leader Ian Anderson has already commemorated the 40th anniversary of its hit ‘Thick as a Brick’ record by releasing a sequel — and now the band is continuing the celebration by reaching back into the vaults for a newly remastered version of the original LP. Due Nov. 5, the anniversary edition of ‘Thick as a Brick’ will, of course, boast some additional goodies on top of the new mix. Fans can also look forward to a DVD containing several presentations of the album (including a 5.1 mix and the “original transfer”), a 40-page newspaper that duplicates and expands the cover artwork, and new liner notes and essays in a 104-page book. In addition, ‘Brick’ will be available in a double-LP vinyl set that combines the original album with its 2012 sequel, which peaked at No. 2 on the Hungarian charts. The follow-up to the band’s smash ‘Aqualung’ record, ‘Thick as a Brick’ was reportedly Jethro Tull’s sarcastic response to critics and fans who — incorrectly, in the group’s opinion — called ‘Aqualung’ a concept album. Supposedly meant as a spoof of the concept album format, ‘Brick’ consisted of a single song, presented as the work of an eight-year-old boy named Gerald — but spoof or not, it debuted at the top of the Billboard charts, and has gone on to become one of Jethro Tull’s signature albums. Next: 'Thick as a Brick' Hits the Road QUOTE We will be geared to the average (non high-resolution 5.1) rather than the exceptional (high-resolution 5.1) God is an overwhelming responsibility

Out of my frustration for the lack of high-res 5.1 in this set, I followed in the footsteps of Paul Sinclair by writing an open letter to Ian Anderson. I've posted it here: www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=526487927367962&id=155624494454309¬if_t=like on the Jethro Tull Facebook page, and I will also email it to Ian as well. If you agree with what I've said, simply like the post and/or add a comment below. Will this change anything for this release? Probably not, but I'm still hopeful that we can change things for the better for any future releases. Thank you.

You know, I know. www.rttnews.com/1963610/jethro-tull-to-release-thick-as-a-brick-remaster.aspx?type=ent&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=sitemap 9/13/2012 8:20 PM ET (RTTNews) - Jethro Tull have confirmed that they will release a remastered edition of their classic album Thick as a Brick on November 5. The album, which followed the band's breakout record Aqualung, was penned and recorded by Ian Anderson and company in 1972. The new release will celebrate the album's 40th anniversary and boast a host of special features including a DVD, a 40-page newspaper that expands on the album's iconic cover art and new liner notes and essays packaged in a 104-page booklet. The remastered album is, in fact, the second tribute to the original release and follows a sequel album recorded by Anderson. Both albums will also be available packaged together in a double vinyl collection later this year. by RTT Staff Writer For comments and feedback: editorial@rttnews.com
